I’m starting to question if my baby has a lip tie but as a first time mum not sure if it’s the norm? She clicks whilst drinking bottles and is on reflux medication but nobody’s ever looked at her lips or mouth to check and she’s 3 months old

Please be careful pulling babies lip up that much- the skin there is already very tight and it hurts to stretch it like that. I would say that’s a very obvious lip tie. There’s really no need to worry about a lip tie unless baby is unable to latch or take a bottle. It can lead to speech problems in the future and your baby may need speech therapy but that’s a lot better than cutting into your baby’s mouth. I have a tongue tie and top and bottom lip ties, I had a bit of a speech impediment as a young child and a small lisp that I was able to fix within one or two school years of going to speech therapy.

My son also has the same ties as me and used to click a lot on my boob but I was able to fix his latch early on and he breastfeeds just fine
