New friends

Has anyone been successful making new friends? I am beyond at the end of my tether with all this. Never did I ever think I'd have a loneliness problem in my thirties. I had my baby 2 years ago, lost friends as a result of them wanting different lives, others to divorce/breaks ups and as of this morning one of the very few friends I have in essentially losing to a controlling partner.

I have tried joining new clubs but with little success - managed to get into a fantasy book club but it's exclusively online as in person is full. Tried swim classes and yoga classes but no one ever seems to want to talk or stay.

I just didn't think being married and a parent would equal a life of no other adult friends bar my husband and it's just making me so, so miserable.

This all has been spurred on worse this morning as I found out our best friend's (male) wife purposefully told us she wasn't having a 30th birthday party, proceeded to and didn't invite us. Kids don't seem to be an issue as there were two babies there and tried to hide it despite insta photos. Can't decide whether to even call them out on it, given the friend isn't allowed to see us without her because I know it'll be an ender but at the same time not happy I'm a doormat.

If anyone has had any success, please, please share tips 🙏 I'm an insanely social person so I've no idea why this is taking so bad.

I have made a really good friend on here so don't lose hope. I think its hard because on here everyone is a busy mum and I particularly find it hard keeping up with messages. It was much easier during mat leave to arrange meet ups etc. I have also lost friends since having kids but if you're at different points in your life its difficult to still have common ground

Hey girl, totally understand how you feel. It can be so lonely when you’re such a social person without a network of lovely mums around you. I’ve made some great friends through various groups but it does take time to develop proper friendships and like you, it’s been really important to me as I’ve always been pretty sociable but was the first of my friends to become a mum so felt a bit unsociable until I found some good mum friends. Please drop me a message, I’d love to chat - maybe you could come along to a tots group I go to? X

I don’t have any young children now, mine is all grown up but I’m always looking to make new friends if that’s any good :) x

Feel free to send a message, my little one is 2 so similar age, life becomes a juggling act once you've got a family and work on the go. Xx
