First-time mom here! ❤️ I’m feeling pretty anxious about vaginal birth because I have a history of tearing during gynecological exams. I may also have lichen sclerosus, and my vaginal opening is very close to my perineum/anus, which makes me worried about tearing to my rectum during delivery.
Because of this, I’m considering a planned C-section, but one of my biggest concerns is that my partner and I would ideally like to have 3 children.
For moms who have had 2, 3, or more C-sections, how has your reproductive health been in the years afterward? Did you experience significant scar tissue, adhesions, or other complications with subsequent pregnancies or C-sections?
I’m also wondering how the risks change as you have more C-sections, particularly things like placenta previa/accreta, adhesions, or other complications that could potentially require a hysterectomy. Is there a point where having multiple C-sections significantly increases these risks?
I know everyone’s experience is different and I’ll be discussing my individual situation with my OB, but I’d really love to hear from moms who have had 2, or more C-sections. How did your pregnancies and recoveries go? And how did you feel about your decision years later?

I’ve had two C-sections, two low risk pregnancies and no fertility issues as a result. Pregnant first time trying, no scar tissue issues, no irregular periods. I saw my obstetrician afterwards and had a midwife check my scar tissue and it’s barely there. My theatre experiences were textbook, didn’t even need the blood they got reserved in case. 300ml lost, no complications, no adhesions. No pelvic floor issues either.
My aunt had 5 sections and zero issues for her or the babies.
Everyone is different physiologically and genetically. Risk is very individual but I was told to just stay fit, wait at least 18m before trying for another baby and focus on my body. The fitter you stay, the happier your body and experiences in pregnancy and birth will be xx

Both my pregnancies was high risk - My first c section, I had preeclampsia which caused a placental abruption. Haemorrhaged lost 2.5L of blood, which lead to an emergency c section. I then waited 18 months and fell pregnant with my second daughter, no issues with preeclampsia, my placenta was low lying 2cm from my cervix but it moved as my belly grew, but baby was on the 3rd centile so section was bought forward to 38 weeks. Lost 200ml of blood which is really good for a section. No other issues.
I wouldn’t change my second c section for anything. It was really calm and everything was explained so clearly. I was also sterilised during my second section by choice. Recovery after section is not nice at all I won’t lie, it’s hard work and there’s injections for 10 days you have to do yourself.
I wouldn’t worry about hysterectomy’s so much I’d imagine they only use that in worst case scenarios xxx

Everyone is different but I had 3 csections within 5 years with no complications, then we had a 4th and had placenta previa accreta and had to have a c-hyst at 35wks. I didn't have any bleeding or other complications and it was "uneventful" for what it was. Recoveries were easier as they went the first was the hardest. My 4th, I'm 11wks pp, is the classic incision, vertical, and I was really worried about healing after and it was actually easiest of the 4 I think. I had all my babies within 6.5yrs so maybe my close age gaps made me more susceptible to previa/accreta. But we honestly don't try, it's all on His time. I do know a handful of people who have had 5-7 csections with no problems. I've met some mamas that had accreta with their 1st or 2nd and I feel such for them. I honestly didn't mind having a c-hyst after being pregnant for so long, 5 babies in 6.5yrs because we also had a stillborn baby second that I delivered vaginal.
