PPA & PPD

I just had my baby 8/1 and severely struggling with anxiety and depression. I’m constantly thinking something is going to happen so I don’t sleep. I’m constantly checking on him throughout the whole day and night. I’m running on minimal sleep and don’t know how I’m going to survive once my husband goes back to work. I feel so alone. I love my baby but hate the newborn stage because of what it’s done to me.

You’re not alone! I realized today that i needed to be honest with myself and admit something is wrong. I am the same way running off of fumes and not wanting to sleep.

I completely understand what your going through. I to suffered/suffer with this. It used to be worse than it is now. I was always thinking something bad was gonna happen like oh im gonna accidentally drop her or hit her head on something ect its terrifying. I dont constantly check on her at night like used to but i still worry.

When does it get better? Or will medication be the only solution?

I had bad anxiety too and wasn't sleeping once my boyfriend went back to work. I literally couldn't sleep unless my hand was on him to ensure he was breathing. I am terrified of sids. I got the owlet sock and that has help with some anxiety. I also ended up cosleeping. Im still struggling with being outside with him cause I have a fear someone is gonna kidnap him so I don't walk outside at all. You're not alone!!

I was the same. My husband works nights so I really had to hone in on my anxious thoughts. For me, the first 2 weeks pp really took a toll on me but it did get better around the 3-4 week pp mark since I got a better sense of my baby's habits. I'd say sleep when your baby sleeps and remind yourself that you got this!
