When does the sleep get better

My LO is 7 weeks tomorrow and his sleep has not been great lately. Firstly it takes me absolutely ages and at least 2 failed transfers to get him to sleep at night. He needs to sleep with boob which I always give. We are currently co sleeping but even that’s not helping. The moment I leave the bed he wakes up. Also he is SO fidgety during his sleep, always moving around. I understand sometimes after a feed he might want to burp but when I try to burp him sometimes nothing comes out! Is this a phase? Will it get better after 8 weeks.
Please send help, advice, anything!

Sounds fairly normal tbh. Does he possibly have reflux? But to be honest at this age, I’d just stay in bed and prioritise sleep. You’ll get evenings back - but for now, just focus on sleep.

Honestly, every child is different and some take a while for sleep to improve, others get there quicker. Ours has only just started to improve at almost 3yo.

The failed transfers used to be a nightmare for us so I gave up on even trying and just co slept with him to eliminate that but you say you're already co sleeping?

If he's waking up as soon as you leave the bed he's needing your closeness and contact which is completely normal. You could either stay in the bed with him or if that's not practical you could baby wear in a sling so he can still sleep whilst on you whilst you go about other things.

Breastfed babies often don't need burped. It could be something else causing the fidgeting or it could just be active sleep which is also completely normal.

Everything is a phase and be aware - sleep will change aaaaalll the time in the first 1-2years!

It so child dependent! My first didn’t sleep through until 25 months, he woke 1-2 hourly or less until then.

We co-slept, while it often didn’t improve his sleep as such I felt less exhausted and less mentally drained from all the failed transfers.

Such young babies are very active sleepers unfortunately! My second we’ve co-slept from birth he’s now 16 weeks and while he still sleeps like crap he’s way less active in his sleep than he was when he was younger so I get more rest in between the wakes.

So hard but so so normal for baby to want to be close to you! It’s not forever I promise and one day from now wether that’s a week, a month, a year or a few you will sleep again ❤️

My best advice for now is go to sleep when they do and bank as much sleep as possible x

Sleeping through crying newborn

I spent a lot of time on the post natal ward which turned me into a really heavy sleeper (was a really light sleeper before). And now I sleep through my baby crying - anyone else just completely does not hear their child cry or am I a bad mum?! Luckily I always wake up to my husband feeding her 🙃…

Pre birth health visitor appointment

Has anyone refused a pre birth health visitor appointment. Ive never got one with my 2 other children they just came after birth. This time they have sent me a date to come visit. I dont feel I need a meet and greet appointment to know what they are about considering ive got a 5 year old and a 3 year old.

What would your reaction be if your partner offered to get you a boob job?

Sleeping through the night

My baby is sleeping through the night completely now, from 8:30-6:30. This means he’s dropped 2 feeds, but is still having the same amount during the day. Shall I offer more during the day as he’s technically having less now? He doesn’t seem to want anymore in the day though.

PPA & PPD

I just had my baby 8/1 and severely struggling with anxiety and depression. I’m constantly thinking something is going to happen so I don’t sleep. I’m constantly checking on him throughout the whole day and night. I’m running on minimal sleep and don’t know how I’m going to survive once my husband goes back to work. I feel so alone. I love my baby but hate the newborn stage because of what it’s done to me.

Cluster feeding

Has anyone come out the other side of this yet? 😅 and if so, how many weeks along until it finally eased off?

Our LO is only 2 weeks old so know it could be some time yet.. 👀
