I am booked in for an elective c section tomorrow afternoon at The JR Oxford- and I am so so nervous- I don’t deal with needles and hospitals in general very well nor ever had any form of surgery etc.
I think I’m looking for some positive stories, reassurance and tips for keeping calm and recovery would be much appreciated :) thank you!x

Oh bless you - I was very nervous too, but I’ve had two c-sections and I had a really positive experience both times. The staff were SO lovely both times, they really made me feel cared for and relaxed. During my most recent section in April, the midwife stroked my hair and brought me an ice lolly when I started feeling a bit faint (I’d not eaten anything all day)! It was honestly as relaxing as it could be, so I’m sure yours will be the same. You’ll be in awe of the staff in theatre, they’re amazing. Good luck! ♥️

I had an elective at the JR in March. The surgeon was absolutely fantastic. To be honest, all the staff in theatre were incredible. The anaesthesiologist is there the whole time and makes sure you are calm. They will talk to you if you want them to, play your playlist if you have one and are just generally so, so lovely. Happy for you to dm me if you want ☺️ good luck!! xx

I had mine on Monday and it was amazing.
I’ve never had any type of surgery apart from a wisdom tooth out and spent the entire lead up (almost 2 weeks wait from the call to c section date) stressing and panicking.
Be prepared for timings on the day to change about, we were in at 7am and told we’d be second down, the lady booked to go in before had previous c sections so would’ve been the priority, they told us I could get changed into my gown and stockings etc around 10, something was going on with her obs, I think she had preeclampsia so they needed more, 8:40 they told me we were going down so it was a bit of a rush but gave me no time to think too much about it. Pain wise - I felt nothing aside from pressure in my chest and pressure from my knees down being moved, absolutely nothing from my ribs to knees, I didn’t even know they’d started the op.
Aftercare - take all the help and keep on top of pain meds
