Self Employed Maternity Allowance

Any self employed mums that can help me understand this?

I was employed last time I was pregnant so this is all new to me!

I applied for maternity allowance and they've said they're only awarding me £27 a week which doesn't make sense.

It says this might be because I haven't paid enough NI contributions and if I pay more then I might get the higher MA award but I have paid enough NI contributions and have evidence of this so don't understand why they're saying this.

Anyone had any experience of this?

I have been battling to get Maternity Allowance for months! I don't know if my experience is helpful but it's also new to me as I was employed last time I took maternity leave too.
Took me ages to have my application even looked at, because HMRC had messed something up and hadn't registered me as self-employed for some reason. Anyway got that sorted. I was sent a letter asking me to pay £45.50 NI contributions to top me up to the threshold to allow me to receive any amount of maternity allowance at all. Still waiting to hear how much I'm going to be awarded, but I don't anticipate it's going to be much.
You say you have paid enough NI contributions, and you haven't had a letter asking you to pay more, so it sounds like they are just awarding this based on your most recent tax return etc.
The only advice I can offer is to call Maternity Allowance (I have a phone number somewhere if you need one) and ask them to clarify the amount and what it's based on, if you think you should get more.

hey girl!

Honestly just looking for a best friend 🫶 even if we’re long distance. Someone I can talk to about literally anything, send random updates to, laugh with, and actually keep in touch with. No weirdness, no forcing it, just a genuine friendship that’s consistent 😭

looking for a bestie in Florida or literally anywhere. It’s been so difficult to make friends who actually know how to hold conversations. I don’t have much family so it’s just me, my baby, and husband😭 it gets lonely! Message me! 💛

Life choices

Yesterday I caught my husband cyber cheating having virtual sex on camera with women. And posting on forums trying to meet up. Annnnd to top it off. Buying only fans content from someone who I use to be close friends with until we moved. Husbands active duty and has us stationed in Georgia. I hate it here. Idk what to do currently 19 weeks pregnant with his first child and due to following him on his PCS I am under employed to leave rn… thoughts?
