What do you do to prevent pregnancy?

please comment to specify what birth control you use, form of sterilization, reasoning for not using, or anything else you think correlates to the prompt! :) Also share your experiences with what you’re using or anything you have used in the past. I think this would be such a beneficial conversation for a lot of women.
Personally I am currently pregnant but weighing my options for after birth as Im thinking I don’t want more children after this one but Im not 100% sure and Ive also always been hesitant on using anything because I am worried about the side effects or the horror stories i hear about certain things. I have taken pills back when i was a teenager but other than that I have no experience with it. I was thinking about copper Iud as it is non-hormonal and would have less side effects based on what i read but Iuds scare me in general also 😂

Previously;

• Condoms, not on any other BC.

• Patch - Loved this but unfortunately I was allergic to the adhesive and it turned out due to health issues I shouldn't have been prescribed it anyway.

• Implant - Absolutely despised this. I bled constantly for 3 years, lucky to get one day off here and there. Made me extremely suicidal. I ended up having to remove it myself as they kept cancelling my appointment.

POP - Terrible memory, forgot to take it most of the time so not Ideal but was also using condoms still because of this.

• Injection - Alright. Still bled constantly but wasn't suicidal. I didn't mind it as due to health I'm used to needles but also not ideal having to stab yourself.

We do the pull out method. I did the depo shot after my baby and it was AWFUL.

Condoms every single time

In the past I’ve used multiple contraceptive pills and condoms however, I still got pregnant with my son. I had so many different side effects with the pills though, some worked amazingly to start with and would then have nasty symptoms whilst others were awful from the get go. After getting pregnant on two separate occasions through both of those methods I’ve now gone onto the hormonal coil. Honestly, so far it’s been an absolute dream, only issue I’ve found is that I’ve gained a lil bit of weight (10lbs more since March) not that I’m particularly bothered. I still get periods but they’re so small and only last a handful of days.

IUD has worked well for me for years. The copper one I’m finding works best for me

Husband got a vasectomy

Plan B’s and prayers 😂 Can’t say that anymore bc I got caught again😅😂 But before my 1st, that got us through for 3 years!

I used to use the pill but I'm having memory issues at the moment (not only postpartum related) and so I'd forget to take them and I got too scared so now we use condoms. I want to try the patch or possibly the implant. I also want to go non-hormonal with the iud but I've heard the copper one can cause heavy bleeding and a few friends have told me nightmare stories with the iud

I've never used anything other than pills once I started using pills. I started Larin brand about a month ago to try to get my periods to be about the same length each month, because they weren't when I was on Lessina.

I've had 2 IUDs, both hormonal and I love it. Planning to get another when I go back for my pp appointment. For me its the best option. No bleeding, no remembering, no babies unless I want another.
Obviously everyone's experience is different, but my body responds well so I'm gonna keep on with it.

I was on the pill for a decade and I didn't like the fluctuations when I had to take my pill at a different time or missed a dose.

i used to used IUD

Currently don't do anything as we want a second child. But that being said I was on a pill for many years. After we have a second I will be getting my tubes removed or my partner will be getting a vasectomy because we don't like condoms and IUD’s are way too expensive 😂

Good ‘ole fashioned condoms are reliable, accessible, and won’t give you side effects! I did BC pill for years and just had all the worst side effects —weight gain, depression, etc. etc. 0/10 do no recommend it.

I had nexplinon and it worked great im not sure what ill do once my baby comes but I dont think I want to go back on birth control

Before I was on the pill and now I’ve had the nexplanon for a year and love it. I will probably continue using this form unless my husband is willing to get a vasectomy

Pullout, tracking and condoms for me. Haven’t been on anything hormonal the last 15yrs. Don’t wanna risk any side effects or potential weight gain when I’ve tried so hard to lose it and tone up. And the extended and heavy bleeding I heard women get from the IUD scares me as well, I don’t wanna bleed more than my current 3 days a month. He gets condoms free from the community centre lol
