Mixed feelings about starting maternity leave

I just want to start with saying that this baby is more than wanted, after 2 previous losses, we're so excited to be so close to meeting our little one.

So my last day is tomorrow, and I suddenly feel really sad about it, and I can't figure out why.
I'm not sure if it's down to fearing the unknown, what's coming next as it's our first. I love my job so maybe I feel like I'm going to lose myself and not have that adult interaction anymore. I don't have any close friends personally so now I'm worried that I'll start to feel lonely even when baby is here during the day while my partner is at work.

Is it normal to feel both happy and sad about it?

I think you’re completely normal in being both a little sad and happy. I’m on countdown to finishing but know I’ll also feel a bit sad when it comes to it x

Oh I could’ve written this myself almost word for word!!
My last day is tomorrow too but today was my last day physically in the office and I felt more emotional about it than I thought I would (on an ordinary day I don’t like my job so the emotion surprised me 😂). It was also a secondment so the last time I’d ever be seeing my senior, I’ll be back in my old role after leave and she’s on to a new job 🥹
For me it’s adding to it suddenly feeling real, like what do you mean I don’t have to go to work for 11 months because I need to be home to look after our son? 😳 You’re not alone in how you’re feeling and I think it’s really normal 🥹 x

Definitely find out any baby groups around you! I moved to a new area when my last baby was 6 weeks old and met some really amazing friends at a “new baby new life” group and now 3 years later we are still so close and our children love meeting up to play ☺️
Just having those people going through what you are is so important in those times early months!! X

In job interviews, do you have to tell them you are being made redundant? Or can i still say i have 3 months notice period and i am working part time hours etc?

Is it liying? Can they find out? What do they ask when talking to references?

Working Mamas - Help Please!

I’m due to return to work next month after my second maternity leave, currently at work I do three days, Mon-Wed. I’ve been offered to work Thursdays as well and I’m in two minds if I should.

Obviously the additional money will be a huge help, but it will mean less time with my girls and once my eldest starts school next year, after school childcare costs will be massive.

I’d also like to have a third little one, but after working out childcare costs once they’re in school I’m just not sure it would be possible 😭 the extra day at work would help with that cost, but it’s also the reason the cost is higher 🤦🏼‍♀️, just feel either way I’m losing! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Which would you rather do?

For context, you have 2 children under 4 in nursery. They will be in nursery when you're working.

Would you rather work:
A) two long days, two short days
Or
B) five short days.

Long day is 10 hrs.
Short day is 6 hrs.

Hormone coil

Has anyone got the hormone coil fitted and has found it's helped with their periods overall (mood, lessening the actual flow, fluctuations of hormones).

Thank you x
