Finally had my first night where I broke down crying with my baby boy. I did everything I could to soothe him and he wouldnt stop till 3am and in that moment I felt so alone trying to do this. Everything is fine now but ftm and already almost 2 months in and it all hit me at once.

Girl I totally feel that! My son is turning one on the 26th but those first few months I done the same exact thing!!

Hey there, so I'm at 4 months and finally learned how to call them down right away when they won't stop crying when this happens.
1. Turn the lights out if possible and make the room completely dark with curtains if you can.
2. Turn on white noise loudly to drown out their thinking. Don't have it nearby? No problem, do a loud shush.
3. Bounce up and down vigorously on a yoga ball. You can rock them but this is like training wheels for you to learn how. Honestly, the yoga ball and the shush are the biggest part.
4. As soon as they stop crying for a second, shove a boob or a pacifier in their mouth. Not a must have.
That's it! Bounce and shush and baby will be completely out in a couple of minutes. This works for overtired baby, feverish baby though a treadmill and carrier for these is pro mode, and even for nap baby so you can reliably reclaim your nap time. After about five minutes, you can even lay them down in a bassinet, and they will stay out.
Then go get that break, momma!

My nurse told me 5 S, when baby is fussy.
Sway
Swaddle
Check diaper ( forgot how n S came here)
Shush
Food.
The first week post partum was hard. The stitches hurt, I cudnt more from bed when babe needed. Husband was asleep. And had to do calm the baby down. I thought of this period as the only 3-4 month period where baby will need me at night and then stop needing me. Tried to think like I should cherish them.

I feel you! one day my baby was fussy after a doctors visit so I read somewhere that laying him on his tummy and massaging him would soothe him and it worked. he ended up taking a 3hrs or so nap!

Hit me at that mark too and I had a little help with my partner but I couldn’t take it anymore it goes away but those moments are so important don’t neglect them find a solution the best you can

It gets easier

I’ve had to feed, diaper, soothe…etc my baby through tears multiple times in the last 2 months. It’s hard when my husband has been back to work at his part time job on the weekends for a while now. I’m exclusively pumping and bottle feeding. Sometimes if babe is really struggling to settle outside of my arms I can end up getting engorged because I can’t pump while I hold her. Then while I am holding her eventually my arms will start to fall asleep or my back gets store. And sometimes you just want 10 minutes where nobody and nothing needs you. But when you’re home alone with the babe sometimes that’s not an option. Just remember it is okay to put babe down someplace safe and step away for 5 minutes even if they will scream. If you need the space to regulate, it’s better to take it than to try and push through while you end up risking doing things you can’t take back.

Sorry ❤️ you’re a good mommy, just regroup. You are mommy forever and your baby will always love you even if there’s a night or two that you break… lord knows my baby has broken me so many times (she stays up from 10-4a screaming and only consoled by breast feeding basically) and life still goes on

I feel you. I am in the same boat right now have 10 days old girl who just doesn’t settle down. While typing I am trying to soothe her since past 4 hours. It is a day night cycle that seems to be endless sometimes. Hang in there.
Hello! My baby is 6 weeks old and she only gets sleep when she contact naps on either of our chest so my partner and I take turns sleeping at night. Everyone keeps telling me to be careful of her getting used to it but I don’t know how. There came a period when she slept in her cot but now as soon as I put her down, the Moro reflex kicks in a few times and she wakes up and we’re back to square one…any advice?

Are nappy bins actually worth it? Baby girl is due next month and I’m buying the last bits and bobs but I’ve heard mixed things about nappy bins! Would only be used in the bedroom to save me going up and down the stairs during the night but I’ve been told to save my money as I won’t actually use it that much?

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks! Baby randomly started refusing his milk — I can’t help but think it’s linked to teething and him absolutely hating Calpol. It got to the point where he was clamping his mouth shut and spitting it out, and anything he did manage to drink would come back up.
We went to the doctor on Wednesday and, apart from being a bit fussy, he’s perfectly healthy. He does have a little bit of reflux, which is new, but it’s just really difficult not to worry that he isn’t drinking enough.
He previously went off one of his formulas, so we’ve tried a different one. He is taking this one rather than immediately spitting it out, but he’s still not drinking as much as he used to.
I’m now super paranoid about whether he’s getting enough! It’s just such a random change in his attitude towards milk. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

What does everyone think of the Lindsay Clancy trial? The whole trial has just had me in bits, for everyone involved. Being a mum and going through post partum struggles I do understand. And a lot of people will say ‘she killed her kids!’ Yeah, she did. But how many times did she reach out to people, her mum, her MIL, mental health workers, suicide line, mother and baby groups? Her search history was all about how to care for her kids and her kids! No one in the trial has a bad word to say about her. The whole story is sad and when you’ve been through needing help like that yourself you understand it more. I hope she gets the help she needs

My baby is just over 2 weeks old. He will not let us lay him down, not in his next to me or pram bassinet, meaning I can’t leave the house with the pram and can only having him in my arms. Any advice?
