I was due to get induced, the day before I went for a big walk. I went in to get the balloon inserted, they checked and I was already 2-3cm dilated so I didn’t need the balloon. I got told to come back in the morning to have my waters broken, I had slight cramps after the cervix check but didn’t think anything of it. but I woke up at 3:50am the morning I was meant to get my waters broken with bad contractions. I got told the hospital at 5am via ambulance, my waters broke at the hospital and I was 9cm dilated by the time I got there. Baby boy was here at 5:27 am all on his own 💙❤️ so I technically never got induced, similar thing happen with my friend to!

I went to get induced at 39 weeks at 6pm, they checked me and said I was already 1-2cm dilated, gave me my first round of gel at around 7:30pm and an hour later it showed on the monitor I was having contractions (feel very lucky to have a high pain threshold). went to sleep woke up at around 3am and my waters broke, after that things felt a little uncomfortable and because this was the only time I’d felt anything I thought I still had hours and hours to go. Then at around 4:45 I called them over because every time I had a contraction I felt like I needed to poo and didn’t know if that’s normal. They said usually that means I’m ready to push but shut me down and said I wouldn’t be ready yet and that I was due some more gel at 5, they then checked me at 5am and baby’s head was right there. Called my partner and my mum to rush over to the hospital and within 15 minutes of them getting there baby girl was born. So I feel very fortunate that I have a positive induction story

Is my daughters name to unique?

I had my daughter a 8 months ago, I told my husband that always had a baby girl named picked out since I was about 13 years old. And he was OK with it. He just changed the spelling which I’m not a huge fan but I still love her name.

Her first name is Sunni middle name Ella Rae. I don’t really love the Ella part or how Sunni is spelled I think it should be spelled as Sunnie so it makes more sense. A few people have commented on it, aka my mother-in-law to be specific. Did I choose a real name for my daughter?

Induction

Hey, I am being induced closer to my due date and the consultant has mentioned using the balloon for induction. I had a pessary when induced with my second.

Anyone had both methods and can tell me how different those labours were or wasn’t? 🩷

50/50 Co parenting a newborn

Is it a good idea for a baby to move home every 3/4 days to co parent?
I want to breast feed which I wouldn’t be able to if we do 50/50 and I feel that’s unfair to both me and the baby I’m pregnant with.
Is it ever a good idea to 50/50 share a newborn baby? Am I wrong to say no?
I won’t get into baby daddy situation but he’s awful. Regardless of that is it ever a good idea for a newborn to bounce between homes so often? I would be ok with the idea from when the baby is 12 months but immediately after birth I think is a crazy ask from the dad.

Anyone else feel guilty for resting?

I’m 33 weeks tomorrow and I feel bad that some days I just want to be left alone and veg on the sofa! Does anyone else feel the same way? My boyfriend is super active and never sits down. When he makes a joke that I’m sitting around, I just get emotional about it. I just cry! 😅 And then I feel stupid for crying! It’s like a continuous cycle. But when I am on my feet all day, I get horrid pelvic pain, leg and bum pain. I just try to make myself move! I’m just finding it difficult to be kind to myself. Some days are worse than others I suppose.

Umbilical cord

My daughter is 4 days old, today her cord has bleed and a few hours later has fallen off.
It is red on her belly button (not sure if it’s slightly swollen or just got a bit of an outy belly button) and there is a small amount of yellow puss inside her belly button.

Is this normal or something I should get checked out?
