My son turns 1 a month after Christmas so to avoid duplicates and (sadly) ‘tat’ I’m going to make a wish list so family can buy something from that if they wish.
I need some inspo, so what is your child’s most used items / toys from age 1 - 2 or more practical items for that age?
As both Christmas and birthday are close, i’m happy to put items away until he is a little older or the seasons change.
Thanks

Little tikes rocking horse. Can use it in the house until the weather warms up then it becomes a garden toy x

Any grimms or grapat wooden toys. Open ended Pkay helps so much with imagination. And certain youd help with certain parts of development, hand eye coordination ordination fine motor or gross motor skills. And many more. Stepping stones are also so good for gross motor skills. Although grimms and grapat toys may be expensive. You can also get wooden pieces paint/stain and seel them yourself for a fraction of the price

I don't want to have toys to be stored so we're asking for money or vouchers so then we can buy seasonal toys.
For example we want garden toys. So a Argos voucher etc would be great or money and we can buy next spring

Play kitchen
Activity cube
Interactive books
Viga toy boards (we got ours off Vinted)
Stacking blocks
Velcro veg/fruit
Stepping stones
Role play toys (tea set, ice cream shop, table top BBQ)
Mega blocks x

Give people specific items to buy. That way there is no duplication

Play kitchen and food
Rocking horse
Pushchair and baby
Mega blocks
Cars and train track
Water table and paddling pool for warm weather outside play

Toddler tower for the kitchen. We got one for my daughters first birthday. Still use it often and she's 4.

My little girl will be 1 on Christmas day 🙈🙈 no present suggestions here but I've used giftster for my little girl and made a list that way people can buy the exact link for what you want and they can also mark when purchased so there's no duplicates xx
My in laws are super helpful and well meaning and we generally have a good relationship. However lately I feel sometimes uneasy, my MIL will hover around when im trying to settle my daughter or put her to sleep. And then offer to take over if it is taking a while. I know this is just out of worrying that I'm tired and trying to help me relax and take the load off when possible. However I would rather just settle my daughter myself if needs be. Dont know how to deal with it without it being awkward

So I’m trying to get dressed this morning in the master bathroom, and my one year old is playing in the master bedroom. I have the door open and I’m keeping an eye on her, but I’m going about my business brushing my teeth and what not. Now I’m NOT getting dolled up here —really just the minimum steps to get ready for the day. We have carpet and really there’s nothing she can get into in there. Sometimes she opens my dresser drawer and pulls out all the pants but .. whatever honestly. It makes her happy.
My husband is pissed saying I’m being irresponsible and the baby can pinch her fingers in our dresser drawers or fall into the furniture or whatever. He’s inventing about 10 different ways she’s going to hurt herself, but …. She’s fine. This is how I get ready everyday and really our room is pretty baby proofed in my opinion. I told him if he had an issue he is welcome to take a few minutes out of his day to watch her so I can get ready for once, but this is how I manage everyday and today is no different.
He is pissed saying he doesn’t have time for that because he has chores to do, he has to mow the lawn, etc etc etc.. so I say, FINE go do those things. The baby and I are good chilling right here minding our business like we do everyday! I’m a sahm and I watch her by myself 99.98% of the time. I have a good sense of what is safe and what’s a hazard by this point.
I also remind him that he has the luxury of sleeping in for an extra hour this morning while I took care of her. He got to workout this morning. He got to eat his breakfast in peace and then take a shower. Give me a break! I’m not even asking for help and I don’t care, but don’t you dare criticize me when you don’t even watch the baby.
Am I really being irresponsible for letting a one year old play in the next room while I get ready? Or is he being unrealistic because he doesn’t even know what it’s like to take care of a baby by himself?

My little boy is going to be 10 months in a week and things are so tough.
He needs a lot of entertaining to sit in his high chair which can be exhausting 3 times a day. Impossible in restaurants, wants to get out and crawl on the floor.
He doesn’t really do independent play for more than 5-10minutes. He then follows me around wanting to be held or tries to get in cupboards and drawers and empty them etc.
He hates the car seat, unless he’s due a nap otherwise he screams to get out.
And he also hates sitting in the pram for more than 5-10mins unless he’s due a nap. I had to carry him back from the shop the other day, 11kg of weight killing me (I’m 5ft 1 and around 53kg myself).
It’s just really hard to get out and do things because it’s impossible to hold him for too long and I can’t bear to leave him to cry. It’s also really hard to get anything done in the house. We don’t do screen time at the moment either. Thank god he does go down for his naps (sometimes) so that buys me an hour to rush round doing what I need.
Anyone else relate? I know we can’t compare as every baby is different but I can’t help feel like I see babies all the time just calmly sitting in their prams, high chairs etc and I wonder what I’m doing wrong!

My bd has 6 hour visits on Saturdays rn, yesterday I was soooo overstimulated and energy just wiped…I nearly called him to come get his daughter 😩😭 he’s currently on a step up plan and this is week 4 I think? I feel like I need time w/o the baby…she’s 3. Should I tell him to keep her until the morning? Or should I still to the plan and stuck it up? I just don’t wanna make the wrong move, but I know sometimes when a lot is going on space is good for everybody 😞🫠🥲
