Life will be easier if he has your name and you don't owe dad that.

I’m in the same boat but with a girl, she’ll have her dads last name but only because he’s planning on being a supportive birth/postpartum partner

Why do I feel a tremendous amount of guilt
Like if I don’t give my baby his last name , he won’t love his baby And it would be my fault 💔

This is tough. I feel like giving him his dad's last name will make it easier for you to seek child support and establish paternity. Part of me feels like it's a decision your son should make when he's older. Part of me feels like the dad doesn't deserve it because he hasn't been there. I get why you're conflicted. If I were in your shoes though, I think it'd be very weird to not even really be with the father or have any support or contact from him and then have my child not even share my last name. I dont know, that is a hard spot to be in. Im sorry you've have to do it alone, you should feel proud you kept your boy and are taking the responsibility so really I dont think you can make a "wrong" decision here. If he hasn't been present you don't owe him anything. But if you want your child to feel connected to that half of him you could hyphenate
