Did anyone opt for the copper coil during their C-section?

When I spoke with the consultant, she put it on my consent form to have the hormone coil during my C-section. However, a lot of the things she said are making me change my mind (she said I could cross it out if I no longer want it). Just wondering if anyone got it before? Just not sure if it's for me, as I never been on birth control in my life

I’m in the UK and have had the copper coil placed after having my daughter via c section last October, and truthfully DO NOT GET IT!!
If it’s the non hormonal one, which I’m sure the copper coil is (again I’m UK based) I was warned about it making my periods heavier but they are unbearable!! I bleed through everything on the first 2-3 days and the pain is awful. I’m actually having it removed because it’s not worth it.

Not to scare you but I would look into other options if you can.

Gave me the worst period pains I’ve ever had. TENS machine on the highest setting wouldn’t even touch it I had to get it taken out it was awful x

Thank you both! I crossed it off my consent form until I can look into other options ❤️

I asked about this and was told by my obstetrician she doesn’t recommend it as they can move

I’m on the other side of the fence. Had my copper coil for 10 months and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. No hormones and my periods are completely back to normal after a few heavy ones to start with. Don’t let other people put you off. You can always have it removed if it doesn’t work for you. All BC comes with side effects and are not 100% effective.

Agree with Sadie ^ I’ve tried other forms of birth control but nothing compared to the copper IUD. Thankfully my periods didn’t change.

Had it before having kids and it was HORRIBLE in my experience. Would not get it ever again.

I had a mirena coil (not the same I know) in at my c section but 3 years later I’m about to have an ultrasound (this afternoon) as they couldn’t find the strings during my smear test…. It’s been valuable for three years but know I don’t know if it’s there or where it is (lol?!)

Also if you suffer with hormonal sensitivity the copper IUD still impacts your hormones! It just doesnt have synthetic hormones within it - its a bit misleading!

I love my copper IUD, best bc I’ve been on.

I didn't have problems with periods or anything but I did get pregnant on the coil as it got dislodged lol

I don’t have the copper one as that can potentially make periods heavier for some people and mine are already heavy enough! I have the hormone one that I’ve had since May and I’ve had no issues so far, which is great for me because I’ve had issues with every other form of contraception but of course everyone reacts differently

I Haven’t gotten the copper one but I’d honestly wait until my 6 ish week appointment just so I can have some healing before they put something back inside me. I have had the mirena iud and loved that one

Back to work

I’m back to work today!! And baby is going to nursery for her first day 😓 she’s had her settle sessions and now she has a cold and diarrhoea so they said I may have to come get her if the diarrhoea continues. I’m just so upset leaving her 8:30-5:30, and I’m not home until 6:20pm so dad is picking her up. I just feel really horrible about it all even though I’m only part time, also still breastfeeding and trying to switch to combi 😭

online bestie wya?

anyone up for being online besties?

I just started school again and it’s all online.
So my day is pretty much filled with my kids, housework, and now school work. I’m a stay at home mom as well… so the only adult I really get to talk to is my husband 😅

I’m not on this app much. so I’d like to chat via Instagram or Discord 💕
