Rehoming my Chihuahua

My son is 20 months and before I was pregnant I had this Chihuahua and my son was very mean to this dog so yesterday I made the hard decision to rehome my dog before anything bad happened. This is the second dog I’ve had to rehome in my life am I a bad pet parent and a bad parent overall the first dog I just let my friend hang onto until I got settled in my place while I was living in Missouri, and then I moved back to Iowa and the dog got bit by a rattlesnake the day before I got him back now this dog I rehome because of how I was scared that the dog was gonna turn on my son and how mean my son was to the dog

You should be teaching your child to not be mean to animals.
You are not a bad mom for rehoming and making that decision.

I mean this nicely but please don’t get anymore pets for a while… There’s an animal shelter crisis and homes are needed for so many pets. 🥹

You are not a bad mom!! You are trying to protect both your dog and your son and make sure they are both in safe environments. It must be hard but rehoming a dog can be the most humane thing to do in certain situations, and better for everyone’s quality of life. You are making the best decision for your family and you have to trust yourself!
