Whooping Cough Vaccine

Is this a necessary vaccine whilst pregnant?
I’m not over keen on getting jabbed up if I don’t need too, so wondering if there are other mums to be who are also in same boat about whooping cough. I need to do more research, but wondered what others opinions are! Thank you!

Poll question: did you / have you got the whooping cough vaccine when pregnant?

No vaccine is "necessary" in the sense of forced upon you in this country. It's your free choice. The real world evidence has shown it results in good transfer of antibodies across the placenta to your baby, helping protect them when they're very young.

I am not aware of any reason not to have it and I know of women in other countries who have paid money to have it privately. I was glad to receive it. But if you don't want it you don't need to take it.

I declined all jabs in both of my pregnancies.

I am personally planning to take the flu and RSV ones. I work in the life sciences field and there’s certainly benefits to vaccines but also your body is strong to battle disease. It’s a matter of how comfortable you are having a higher risk of catching the viruses xx

I would never forgive myself if my child got Whopping cough and I didn't get the vaccine. There is a very real risk of it being deadly to babies. Id rather trust the professionals who have degrees in the pharmaceutical industry than rely on my own understanding of chemical composition.

I had the jab, was in and out of the doctors within 10 minutes, no side effects or issues.

It adds a layer of protection to baby via your antibodies that they otherwise wouldn't receive until they start their course of jabs from 8 weeks old. Whooping cough is extremely serious (even fatal) in babies, especially before they are 6 months old.

It's your personal choice whether to have the jab or not, but please ensure that your research is from certified medical institutions so you can make the most medically informed decision for you and baby.

I am fro Latvia , there doctors don’t recommend to make vaccines but if you do like to make it , in Latvia it is strictly after 28 weeks because the brain is still forming and developing. If you were already sick with a whooping cough, your child automatically gets immune to it as your body already has antibodies
