ADHD and school
What’re yall doing for your adhd kiddos struggling in school? Hyperactivity and impulsivity is our worst enemy right now. We’re pending behavior therapy and I have them doing an Ot assessment. But I want to know what works for you? Whether that’s medication or holistic. I’m open to all feedback. Thank you in advance!

Medicine I vowed I’d never but it became a necessity for my son things have improved
Girl we struggling. So far this year has started off great. Im really hoping he can continue to keep it up.
Last year was a different story. I tried the medication but he couldn't swallow the pills and we got the powder stuff but that really messed with him the first day. He got sick and he didn't fall asleep until 6am the next day and had to be up at 7am
So I didn't want to trade existing symptoms for new symptoms.
So really just living on hopes and dreams. The school is really good about working with him to accommodate his needs. Like getting extra help on his work, giving him breaks to let out some energy, last year they had him go out at separate times from the other students for recess.. etc.
I would try medication again if I felt I needed to but I also know he's capable of learning these skills.
The lastest with me now is i will be putting him on medication, we've done speech pathology
And OT for 2 yrs .I had put off medication but now iv decided to give it a shot .
How are your child's teachers...when he started first yr of primary I was so close to having a breakdown
This teachers were horrible and humiliated him the meetings/calls/emails
Trips to the office nearly daily if not daily
Put in the quite corner
Pushed out of the group at mat time I cld go on and on .
That's why I hated my then specialist i told her the daycare and kindy had concerns fk I had CONCERNS and she refused to do anything
Consistently saying we will need to wait til he starts school
I found out on my own journey he cld've been **diagnosed** before he started school
I had nothing officially on paper aka reports so some ppl said he wasn't officially diagnosed because i had nothing to back it up with .she put me through hell
School clda been so much easier ,not perfect .but I wldnt of had a breakdown the night he broke
Down killed me
So now i have a new dr,we start medication, school is sooooo much better he is above average with literacy & numeracy as his teacher told us in the last teachers meeting i was scared his learning wld suffer coz as I said school was a shitshow i nearly home schooled him
