14 month old still not talking

Check with Vitamin B12 levels! How’s his other milestones? How’s he socially? Does he do those 16 signs by 16 months!

Mines not either! We scheduled an evaluating with early on just to be safe 🙂 a little extra help never hurts

I am in the same boat with our 14 month old boy. He babbles and says dada sometimes, but no actual full words. I plan on bringing this up to his pediatrician next month at the next visit. Maybe it has to do with his tongue tie, maybe we have to cut it to help him pronounce words?

No. Its normal.
I have 3 kids.

My dr. said not to worry about it until 18 months. My first kid didn't start saying words until 17 months. My second kid is 14 months and is just babbling right now too.

Early intervention is key, the earlier the better. It makes me angry when people suggest waiting as that is not fair on a kiddo who may need extra support.

Some kiddo's develop language on their own, in their own time but others need support and sometimes it's hard to tell which your kiddo is.

It NEVER hurts to reach out to your GP, Health Visitor or Paed and speak to a speach therapist. Worst case scenario, they say kiddo needs a bit of extra support and that support is available. Best case, they say kiddo will get there on their own.

My kiddo was only saying Mumma and Dadda by 12 months and then by 15 had dropped the Mumma. He also wasn't pointing, clapping or waving. He was diagnosed with a severe speech delay and has been in therapy since he was 18 months old. He is now nearly 5 and a chatterbox.

So from a personal and professional (early childhood educator) perspective, voice your concerns, advocate for your kiddo and make sure that IF they need the support it is accessed early.
