Baby with cold
I think our baby caught a cold from us (and we got it from a house visitor 😡).
For any moms that have been through this - do you start them on calpol? Or just let it work its way?
No fever, but sometimes i hear his breathing a bit funny as if he has buggies in his airways and he started a cough.not coughing constantly, so i am thinking it might be bc of the buggies.
He is 12wo (3 months on 26th).
I really hope someone is awake and sees this and can give some advice before i call a doctor in the morning 😆

Hey, hope you’re all ok. My advice would be even if your baby doesn’t have a fever, if he’s showing signs of discomfort or being restless or in any pain just give the calpol. Similar thing has happens to me a few times colds usually last a few days but calpol always seems to help them a lot especially to sleep better x
How old is baby?
Humidifier if you have one.
Steam up the shower room/ bathroom and have him in there for ~10 mins
Saline spray if you have some (I latch him on so he's on his side and then spray the nostril that is up, then switch to the other breast (his other side) then spray the other nostril)
Baby vapour rub on chest
Olbas oil on a tissue dotted around the room
I did do the old wives tale of cutting up an onion and putting it in the room (didn't hurt to try)

I see your baby is 2 months old so you can use calpol if they have a temperature, you can use a nasal spray if congested but I always suggest a steamy room first.
Don’t use snuffle rub or olbas oil as they are too little and can overwhelm there system.
If your breast feeding your body will help them through your milk.
They also maybe more clinging so lots of cuddles

If shows pain or discomfort give him some calpol, give obviously lots of cuddles and comfort, however if you notice his cough and/or breathing change then take him to a gp as he could get croup and its better safe than sorry. I also second what has said with the saline solution vapour rub and olbas oil
Thank you all for your help! Sorry i forgot to say he is 12 weeks old (will be 3 months on 26th).
Tbh, for now he is not in distress. I see he is still breathing through his nose, still sleeps well and feeding. But as you all said, i will give him calpol when i see signs of distress and already bought a humidifier, baby vapour rub and olbas oil and all of them will arrive today.
