What to do?

So bit of background my child attends nursery with a friend I am close to. They are in a different room to my child but can hear my child in the building. My child’s key person each time a parent has said anything about her she takes it personally and gets the face on with the parents (which I believe is unprofessional, as she can’t take criticism). Anyhow, my friend can hear my child sometimes crying (which I know is normal) but I’m always told he’s perfectly fine. He hasn’t been well recently and we advised the nursery to let us know if he isn’t settled and we will take him home. Yesterday my friend could hear he wasn’t settled but again nursery said he was fine. What has tipped me over the edge is my friend heard his key person say his name in a stern way. Not shouting at him but basically in a tone of telling him off. My child wasn’t being naughty to be told off he was crying because he was tried. My friend heard this from the bottom of the nursery. I’m in a predicament as I’m furious as I know my child and her doing that would have startled him and he only calmed down when someone else took over. As a parent I wouldn’t know any of this if I didn’t have a friend who worked there and I don’t want to jeopardise her job but he’s my child.

Personally I would speak to management about it, even if you’re friends with a parent from the same room you could mention that when their child was picked up they heard it and mentioned it to you instead of jeopardising your friends job. I would not be happy myself at all and it’s definitely worth bringing up if your not happy about it or it will play on your mind. If I was you I would also mention that every-time your child cries or seems unsettled you need to be called as you don’t want your child in any distress and say if you hear that your child has been in distress but told different on collections you will have to take it higher as they are refusing to fulfill your request/ ask as a parent. With the asking and finding the faces of parents etc I would report this to Ofsted or any other similar authority if not from Uk…as this is unprofessional and unacceptable and is a breach of your confidentiality. I have previously worked in nursery settings and this is totally unacceptable

I would bring it up and ask if there have been any issues to his key worker and say you have concerns about him crying at nursery, and not being told. You don't need to mention that someone told you this. Your peace of mind is important when you are trusting someone else to look after your child.

I would just speak to the nursery, tell them your concerns and then go from there x
