Toddler wanting carrying
Is anyone’s toddler still constantly wanting carrying? Even if he’s in the pram he asked to get out to be carried and generally doesn’t want to be in a pram anymore. He’s 16.5kg and my back is breaking carrying him all the time!
Funny thing with anyone else he doesn’t cry to be carried, he might ask once and then carried on walking but with me he will cry at my ankles until I pick him up.
Any tips? I really need to stop carrying him but it’s just full on melt downs if I don’t.
He even does it when we go on bikes rides, will stop half way and want picking up, only time I can get him to walk is if he’s eating and walking at the same time 😂

Yes all the time! I figure they want to see the world as they can't see much from their height. And they feel safest with mummy ofc.
I actually don't mind it as it's a bit of a workout for me 🤣
good on you for going on bike rides! I don't think I will be brave enough for that for a few more years 😁
The one trick I have is giving him something to eat and then he will happily walk but you already mentioned that. Also just constant little distractions when we are walking - hey look at that fire truck, look there's a crossing can you press the button, or asking him what colour was that car etc. Works sometimes haha
We do a lot of "racing" when he starts asking to be carried 😬
Im the same, I love carrying him but my back doesnt 😂 ive started pre warning him before outings, "I cant carry you, my back is sore, so you can either walk or do push chair" - that helps sometimes and manages his expectations a little 😅 alternatively if we're out without the push chair, I tend to state "I'll carry you when we reach the next lamppost, then when we reach the one after, you walk, then I'll carry at the next one etc" that worked really well this past weekend, probably helped that there were lots of lampposts so lots of breaks for us both, but gave him something to look for and that i wasnt refusing to carry him, I just wasnt carrying him the whole time, hopefully it'll help in a push for you too!
