Infant dyschezia

Does anybody else’s baby suffer with infant dyschezia, my little one is 8 weeks old tomorrow and passes loose/watery stools, however everytime he needs to go he strains, goes red and screams until it passes which sometimes can take hours. We currently give him lactulose which doesn’t help as his stools are already soft anyway. We have tried the usual warm baths, bicycle legs, tummy massages etc. Any advice would be appreciated!!

currently going through the same thing, tried the same as you so would also love to know! i try a lot of massaging the bottom of the foot to try help as it’s supposedly a pressure point and sometimes seems to help but more often than not it doesn’t x

We had a similar issue at the same time when our little one was 8-9 weeks. After multiple assessments we learnt that it takes time for the body to learn pelvic floor relaxation and abdominal muscle contraction. Also if breastfed there is little wastage so don’t be alarmed if they don’t pass faeces as frequently as they did the first few weeks of life. We also got told by specialists to not give pessaries or laxatives as it can actually make the gas worse and they don’t learn the pelvic relaxation they need to. Please message me if you need any support. It was tough xx

Our little one struggled with infant dyschezia, she would get so upset and not pass anything for days. Unfortunately nothing really worked for us, it just cleared up on its own at around 12 weeks. We were told by the midwives and health visitors that they need to learn what muscles to use and how to relax their pelvic floor. We were advised to avoid laxatives as it can delay them learning how to go. It feels like forever but it does get better ❤️

It's so hard and we try to help with bicycle kicks and tummy massages but it sorted itself around 4 months.

These videos helped a bit

Baby seats for trolleys, high chairs etc.

Has anyone got one of these from a brand they recommend? Not sure if Coco seat is a UK brand or what it's like as a company?

Thanks in advance!

Nappy leaks at night—what brands or tips work?

My 12 week old uses Aldi Mamia size 3 nappies during the day with no problems, but at night both Mamia and Pampers Premium Protection size 3 have leaked after a few hours. Has anyone got tips for nighttime leaks or recommendations for other brands or strategies?

Sleep regression or upping daytime intake?

My baby is 15 weeks on Saturday. He used to sleep 9ish-6am with only 1 wake for a feed. He’s now ready for bed at 7/7:30 and sleeping until 7am but waking for 3 feeds! He had dropped to 6 5oz bottle but has now added in an extra one at 11pm. I’ve tried him with some 6oz bottles in the day but he struggled with them. What’s going on? Do I need to ride it out or try and up his daytime intake?

Toddler not listening

Ok my 2 yr old does not listen to me. I know everyone says that but what do you do when it starts lol. We were walking on the side walk and he just took off (he’s never done that before) I was running yelling after me and he was laughing. I got so scared because we live on a boulevard so it’s busy. But just lately he’s been saying no no no to me and runs away. Idk what to do especially in situations like this that are dangerous.
