AITA

AITA For not allowing my 1 year old to attend the funeral of her great grandmother? I personally feel that the age of 1 is extremely early to introduce my child to death and I definitely wouldn’t want the first and last memory of her great grandmother to be one of her lying in a casket (she has never met her great grandmother).

Why does a 1 yr old need to go to a funeral? They don’t even understand death anyway no point traumatizing the poor kid

I don't think it would be too early to introduce them to death (in small ways) but I also don't see the need for a 1 year old to be at a funeral. Especially for a person they've never met. A funeral is for people to grieve and say goodbye I don't think it would be in any way beneficial for the baby.
Edit: so no NTA

Shoe on the other foot, are there any other family members that are aging that will be there and this could be her only time to meet them if they dont live near you? I mean the circumstances are crummy, but it always seems that families get photos at some point 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ at least mine always have...they are 1 they wont remember either way....just a different perspective.
