When to Have Family/Friends Visit Baby?

Hi Mamas!

Question: How are you all planning to handle visits with your newborns? I’ve been reading that newborns don’t have much of an immune system yet, so I’m wondering what everyone feels comfortable with.

How long did you wait before having family or friends over?

My family doesn’t live here, so it would mainly be my husband’s family and maybe 1 or 2 friends of mine.

Just curious what everyone is planning! ❤️

For me, 6+ months. Especially if the baby is born during flu season

Wow, these first two comment are going to be drastically different! 😅

I am about to have my 3rd baby. We let immediate family come over and hold the baby the day we come home from the hospital. Usually starting at about 1-2 weeks later, or whenever we’re feeling up to it, we let friends come one at a time.

Especially now, I have two young boys who leave the house, go to school, etc. They are just as likely, if not more, to bring something in than anyone else. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My mom will be with us helping take care of my toddler for a few days, other than that we are asking for no visitors until she starts getting her vaccinations around 2-3 months, and even then we will limit it to a few adults at a time

Baby will only sleep when held - it’s ruining my mental health

I have a 10 week old baby who will only sleep when held day or night. It’s ruining my mental health.
I spend hours every day trapped under him in silence with white noise that gives me a headache because I’m so sleep deprived. I feel stiff and sore. I feel lonely, bored and frustrated. Every attempt at transfer just fails. I have tried every trick in the book short of buying a snoo. He absolutely hates the carrier. I feel like a terrible mother because I’m supposed to be enjoying the snuggles. But they feel forced. I’m trapped until he wakes up for a feed and change. Only then I have literally 5 minutes to quickly go toilet or eat something- do a small chore. I have no one who can help and take the pressure off me. Friends are too busy 😢 There is no village so there is nobody to help. Family live far and are dysfunctional af so I can’t even go to them😭😭 We co-sleep, which I hate. I feel terrified I’m going to wake up and find him passed out. I thought I’d break the cycle and never make my son feel like he was difficult to love. But 10 weeks in, I’ve already failed. He’s not choosing to give me a hard time. He’s a baby who doesn’t know how to sleep alone and needs my help, and I’m struggling to meet this need. He has reflux and possibly colic too now which is making me even more sad for him and depressed. I’m not looking for practical advice on how to get him sleeping on his own. Trust me, I have tried every practical advice i have found online so far. I’m looking to vent and for similar stories or for advice on how to cope with the isolation of this mentally, or any words of comfort.

Please I’m desperate.

There seems to be no end in sight.

I don’t know how to carry on like this.

1 month old!

First time mama to a 1 month old perfect boy!🩵
For the first 3 weeks of his life doctors ignored me about his symtoms and suspected CMPA (cows milk protein allergy) because im a "first time worried mum" It took for him to start pooping blood for them to listen!

5/6 days into him having his allergy milk, 8/10 of his symptoms have cleared up& i have a happier more content baby!🤍

Constipation

Has anyone experienced constipation with their formula fed LO? Mine is 4 weeks old and formula fed and the last few days he’s really struggling to pass any stools, and is straining and crying when he tries. Today he hasn’t gone at all. I’ve tried infacol which hasn’t helped. Any tips or advice would be really helpful, it’s horrible seeing him in pain.

Nappy sizes?!

My girl was in size 4s (Sainsbury’s) but they weren’t holding anywhere near enough - but we’re still having loads of poo explosions with the size 5s (Tescos). What trick am I missing here?! 😅💩😭😱
