I’ve been quite worried about my pregnancy as I’m bleeding. I’ve followed local advice to get a doctor’s referral to the unit however I have been waiting a couple of hours for a callback from my doctor to say they’ve made the referral. In the interim I’ve managed to get a referral from nhs 111. However my local unit won’t accept this and will only see me with a doctors referral. The lady I spoke to on the phone really hit a sensitive nerve too in how dismissive she was when I said I’d been referred by nhs 111. They won’t even speak to me on the phone until the gp has done so first.
Not sure what I can do now except for wait for my gp to phone me back. Has anyone else experienced this?

Are you based in London? because there’s a few walk ins in South London that you can go to

Ours is self referral so not had this problem.
Sorry you have it sounds horrible!
As hard as it is when your panicking all you can do is wait and trust GP will refer you in as agreed.
If it’s an emergency it would be a&e but otherwise EPU offer routine bloods or a scan. Hopefully they’ve gone through the red flags with you?
I’ve had bleeding in my pregnancy this time and can appreciate how hard the uncertainty is and how nhs professionals can sadly be insensitive at times x

I was also bleeding and frustratingly had to first go see my gp, explain my symptoms again and answer a bunch of questions and then wait until the afternoon to go see the emergency maternity ward for a scan. Luckily everything turned out fine but yeah it’s really frustrating. I think you’re only option would be to wait and see what your gp says or go to A&E.

Yeah EPAS in Scotland is absolutely shocking. When I had my first miscarriage the closest appointment they could give me was 2 weeks away. I asked to come in for assessment they said no and to go to A&E if the bleeding got so bad I felt I was going to pass out but not to come to early pregnancy unit cause they’d turn me away. Went to my GP but they refuse to see you for maternity issues like that because there is EPAS so I just sat at home with no clue what to do. With this pregnancy I needed an early scan due to HG, I had to wait 10 days for that. They also completely refused to see me for my sickness and vomitting despite it being and EPAS issue and told me to go to my GP (I’d already been to GP and they couldn’t do anything else) so they basically said my options were GP or A&E but don’t go there cause again, they’d turn me away. This is in a big city in Glasgow, I know from working at 111 previously as a nurse that not all EPAS work like that, but some are absolutely shocking.
So not sure if this is normal and this is so embarrassing for me to talk about but every time I go toilet to do number 2 there’s always blood. Is this normal?

39 weeks and after having false contractions and braxton hicks for the last week, my waters broke and don’t really feel any kind of tightening anymore. Baby is moving fine just feels strange to be leaking everywhere.
Everyone said it would be like trickling but it’s a lot of gushes that I wasn’t expecting. Is this normal for most?

Hey all, can someone please explain to me what Brixton hicks feel like/felt like to you? I never experienced them with my first, and I’ve never experienced menstrual cramping, as I’ve had people try compare it to that.
I just felt pain that shot all around the lower and upper section of my bump and round to my back, made me throw up in pain…idk if that is a Brixton hock or something else.
I also never went into labour with my first child either…

Anyone else? He’s not even attempting it.

We’ve just found out we’re having a girl 💕 but really struggling with names, my first is Ellie … this time I like things like Margot, Orla, Sofia, Lottie, Sienna … can anyone think of any names that are slightly different but nothing too complicated?!
