So I’m having a bit of a rant .
I have such conflicting feelings towards this subject.
Anyway, my mother in law was single during my pregnancy with my first baby. She was with us everyday. She cleaned our house ; she cooked us meals and she picked us up from work. She helped me with DYI . I feel and felt so greatful. She made my pregnancy so amazing.
She was talking about how she was going to sell her house and move close to us . So she could help us with pick ups from nursery and when baby is ill and so on. She was my village .
Then I had the baby in the summer last year . A couple of months later she met this man that she fell in love with. She disappeared from us completely and this man has been her priority since. She see us maybe once every second week for a lunch out.
She is now moving in with him which is further from us and she has changed her mindset to “this is my time to live and do what I want to”
I feel so happy for her to have found that special love late in her life. But I’m grieving the thought of the grandmother I thought she would be for my daughter . I also selfishly feel like I lost my village . (My mum died when I was 17 , so she has always been like my mum)
I think about this so much, but don’t dare to speak to anyone about it because I feel so spoiled and selfish . Anyone that has something similar going on ?

I lost my mum 5 years ago and my dad's been seeing someone that my family dislikes. He is now retired after a heart attack last year and so I try and see him during the work week while she's at work. I'm sure you and your granddaughter are still her number 1 priority. Do you have a day of the week she always comes? Maybe you could make it a thing?

I don’t think it’s spoiled or selfish to have fell in love with what you imagined. I had a relationship much like this with my kids grandma and it got ripped away from me due to the same thing suddenly priority shift and dating men with different work schedules and hobbies. It’s really hard to be happy and sad at the same time. But she might be in a honeymoon phase and her instincts will kick back in to be more close to you guys.
