My husband has been an alcoholic since I met him. He’s never physically harmed me or our kids, just gets hammered and drinks at inappropriate times to cope and will get clumsy or fall asleep. He did lie about it a bunch and we now have a routine of him taking a breathalyzer whenever I ask him to.
He lost his job two months ago and has been struggling to find one. I know relapses are going to happen but he keeps lying about it to me even when I pull the breathalyzer.
He’s not a bad dad, I have two stepdaughters that I am the only stable adult in their life and our bio kids don’t understand so I feel very stuck and trapped in this space. Am I alone in this?

Due to his heavy drinking again I’ve gone no contact. He has been sober for 5 days apparently and going to work. In two minds if I take him back after being sober for a while and he relapses isn’t it easier to just move on now and cut my losses

My body is rejecting my bd by the day. Recoiling at his touch, never kissing him first, being increasingly annoyed or embarrassed about how he conducts himself. Currently, he’s taking dabs, Xanax, and lately he’s been justifying drinking alcohol again. Alcohol was the one thing that sends him over the edge. I can tolerate him being stoned all the time, I don’t like the pills but I recognize he’s been addicted to some very very hard substances and he needs something. The following is just background stuff- He is addicted to benzos- klonopin specifically. He has a script for it, but before he runs out, he typically buys Xanax off the street (bottle is sealed, but the guy he’s getting it from sells meth & plenty of other hard stuff.) He relapsed at the beginning of my pregnancy and OD’d from heroin and fent. He almost died never meeting his son. Since I moved him back home after the hospital, he hasn’t done this again. 9 months later, I could have this baby literally any day now, and it’s the same song and dance with the pills and (less) alcohol. He cannot work due to bad criminal record and relies on SSC, but generally runs out of money in a couple weeks from buying food and paying for wax and pills. The man is a dead weight but he doesn’t have anybody else but me. I’m so heartbroken I’ve done this to myself. I really need help.

Hi, I am new to this group but I have been dealing with my alcoholic husband for years and it is getting to the point where I just want to give up. It has been very challenging and super emotionally draining. But we have 2 toddlers and they love him. I feel so stuck I don’t know what to do. I would like to hear from anyone. And i also would like to know if there is any group meetings in here? Thank you all, bless ya all.

Good morning. I'm having a difficult morning and looking for others who understand. My husband is a mostly functioning depressed alcoholic. He's been slacking on his duties at home again and I'm very anxious about how bad it's going to get. For context we live off grid in an RV so he's responsible for hauling in water, filling the generator with gasoline, and emptying the sewage. He's responsible for those things because I'm not physically strong enough to do them without over exerting myself. But lately I've been the one hauling in water and filling the generator with gas. Luckily I can do those things, it's just really hard and I tire easily. But the sewage I'm not able to do at all, and it needs done in the next few days or else I'll have to start going to the bathroom in the woods I guess. I'm just dreading having to remind him that it needs done because I know no matter how nicely I phrase it, he will get angry and then further delay doing it. I wish I could just do it myself and avoid the whole situation altogether.
