Who has had or is going through IVF or IUI? Is there a better option to go for? My partner and I are both in our 20s and looking at fertility treatments as we are undergoing fertility investigations currently. I’m leaning towards IUI, but wanted to ask those who have had experience with the above please?

We are going through IUI. You might be best placed to make the decision once you know the results of your investigations as depending on what the results are, they might say IUI has a chance and it costs less or they might say IUI is likely to not work and would be a waste of your money when you might want to consider IVF instead

What Mandy said is spot on!! No sense spending all the money for IVF if they think an IUI will work for you! This month was our third and last IUI before IVF but we got pregnant.

Completely agree with what was said above not only for the cost but also invasiveness. IUI process is less expensive, no egg retrieval process (with anesthesia), and shorter process. But obviously lower success rate so might as well see if possible.

Personally, my partner and I plan to go straight to IVF. There are at home IUI treatments we will try first, but if those don’t work we don’t want to spend the money on IUI. Part of our reasoning is that we KNOW we had a miscarriage due to a chromosomal abnormality— we don’t know if our first was that as well, but for sure having had one loss due to that, we figure if we are going to spend the money we want to be able to be sure that genetically we are fine.
At the end of the day there are pros and cons to both, just talk through it and I’m sure you’ll make the best choice for you!
