Painful stretch marks

During pregnancy, I ended up with a lot of very deep stretch marks.

I’m now two months postpartum and they are still really painful, they feel extremely sore and raw and even clothes brushing against them hurt.

Couldn’t care less how they look but I’m putting stuff on daily and nothing helps.

Has anyone got any tips for dealing with painful stretch marks or know if this is normal and how long until they stop hurting?

My mother had stretch marks just like this , I’m only 18 weeks so far with no stretch marks as of yet ( still time I know!)
She always praised Vaseline , apparently slathering it on helped her with dryness and the itching.
Hoping you find a fix soon xx

Is there something natraul you can use? I'm sure products with chemicals aren't helping nor healthy for your body. I'm not sure what would work tho & you'd have to research. Organic coconut oil is what comes to my mind first .

There is scar treatment creams you can get at the chemist to help with healing & scar pain but they are pricey

I had painful stretch marks as a teenager from growing super fast. They were on my thighs and hips. They weren’t nearly as deep as yours but very painful. I found that coco butter helped a lot and I wore really soft anti chafing shorts for years under my clothes. Now at 31 you wouldn’t even know I had them and I had very minor stretching with my pregnancy. I think perhaps time is the best healer for them unfortunately. I would try to eat as nutrient dense diet as possible as well which sounds not very helpful but I think a major change in my diet is what seems to have coincided in mine healing finally. Wishing you all the best, I know how painful this can be ❤️

I used a lush coco butter bar towards the end of my pregnancy and start of post partum. I loved it

An ointment is best for extremely dry skin. I don’t have stretch marks but suffer from extremely dry skin that can cause painful large red streaks on my skin and Vaseline cream is great for this. Also my daughter suffers from extremely dry skin/eczema and I have used Green People Organic Babies Soothing Baby Salve alongside Epaderm and her skin is significantly better. These aren’t necessarily for stretch marks but may help soothe in the meantime.

Definitely use some sort of oil and apply several times a day. Mine were like this! The texture of the skin will always be different but mine have faded loads now! Stay hydrated and oil yourself up like a greasy chip!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, I will try some of them out. Hoping it starts to ease off soon, very uncomfortable!

When i was pregnant my belly grew very quickly towards the end causing me to have painful itchy stretch marks so i know exactly how you feel. What helped me was getting tissue and soaking it in bio oil and basically covering my belly in the wet tissue as like a mask which really helped xx

Shea butter is natural and great for stretch marks but oils will never really penetrate the skin enough. I try to avoid all chemicals where possible also and found that Aproderm- colloidal oat cream is very moisturising and has less nasties than most on the market. Maybe try the cream a few times a day and oils at night. Best of luck.

I use cetaphil cream and top with organic coconut oil to seal in the moisture

Palmers is supposed to be really soothing and helpful 🥰

Get lots and lots of omega 3 and 6 in your diet or supplements. Skin needs lots of good fats to heal.

Whatever cream you find works…pop it in the fridge, i would imagine it would soothe the itchy soreness ❤️ i havent had this yet as im pregnant with 1st so i may, but im thinking if it was me i would want something cooling 🥰

And maybe something for sensitive skin, not perfumed or anything, as gentle as possible as they are effectively open sores, or thin skin

Have you tried using Bio oil, I used it throughout pregnancy and had minimal stretch marks.

Shape wear or waist training

Raw Shea butter is what I’d recommend.

I didn't have stretch marks but really liked the Weleda Mama oil.

Try calendula cream. It’s really greasy ( the natural one) and should help 😊

Can I just take my hat off to you for this post and commenting that they don’t bother you how they look. I am covered in stretch marks and I absolutely hate them but posts like this make me feel like it’s normal to get stretch marks. I use palmers on mine they’re not itchy anymore but we’re during pregnancy. Hope some of the suggestions help!

I use extra virgin olive oil. A good quality one. It has antioxidants in it and mine are already fading 5 months post xx I'm so sorry you're going through that. The pain could be the skin trying to heal. Are they itchy?

Avatar

Take collagen powder daily. Heal it from inside.

Anything to moisturize and then when it comes to reducing pain I would suggest massaging the areas that are more painful when your in the shower and when applying your moisturizer . Our skin changes so much and it is still changing after baby so helping circulation via massage is always a good place to start and see if pain is reduced. Also helps for anyone having thick scar tissue after c section.

I used bio oil and Neal's Yard mother's balm. Someone mentioned olive oil which would be good too. For my eczema I bathe in oats. Put some in some tights or muslin and run under the tap.you can also wash with it, you'll get all the oat milk coming out. Oats have healing properties and make the skin soft.

I'd see a dermatologist, love. Don't buy any expensive creams people suggest, talk to an expert.

Reduced movements

Baby hadn’t moved for about 2 hours (that I can be sure of) but has now got hiccups and moving slightly again. Should I still go to triage or is that enough for things to be ok?

Growth scan

Just had a growth scan 35 + 2 and they said baby is weighing 3.5lbs, I had a growth scan at 28 weeks and he was 3lbs then. I’m back for a scan in 2 weeks but they said if he drops again they will look to induce me at 37-38 weeks now I’m scared!

Is anyone super sweaty down there?

I am around 21 weeks now, doing shopping today and was genuinely panicking my waters had leaked. Rang the local antenatal assessment and was suggested to change, pad up and monitor for an hour and go in to be checked if necessary. Been monitoring with toilet paper wads (as I didn't have maternity pads this early on!) and regular checking and luckily I think everything is okay... But seriously, was it just sweat??! Has anyone else experienced this?

Together or Separate 1st birthday

So I recently left my now ex partner and we’ve got a 10 month old… I’m just curious is it better to do one party or two separate ones? 🫠🫠 it’s still fresh but we are obviously having to communicate still- but we are hoping to remain friends in a way lol I’m just not sure which is smarter to do

Group B Strep positive labor and baby

Hi,
First time mom to be here, currently around 37 weeks.
Can anyone please share their experience of labor and how was the baby health in the first weeks, months when tested positive for GBS and receiving antibiotics during labor?
I was blessed to not have any serious complications during whole pregnancy and was really looking forward to unmedicated easy-ish birth hopefully and healthy baby but now is concerned about me being able to stay mobile during labor and having side effects for antibiotics, and for baby to have microbiome negative affects due to antibiotics taken..
Any insights or experience would be helpful.
