Hey all! I had a random question for you. My doctor told me I have an anterior placenta which makes it hard for her to hear the heart beat right away. I’m 21 weeks today and haven’t felt a lot of movement. I’ve been wondering if because she said the placenta is acting like a pillow almost if that’s why im not always feeling things? I had my 20 week anatomy scan and he looks really good on there! So I wasn’t too worried.. but im wondering if other ladies have had this and wondered some of the same things!

I have an anterior placenta and definitely feel like it affects my ability to feel her! I went to L&D one time cuz I didn’t feel her for a few days, she was actively moving whilst hooked to the machine and I couldn’t feel a thing

I’m the same way! I didn’t feel any movement until 25 weeks and I’m now almost 29 weeks and only feeling little kicks!

Also have the same and makes detecting pattern of movements difficult as well as midwife picking up heartbeat straight away at Midwife appointments. I'm 30 weeks and as long as I'm feeling her at some points in the day I'm good with that. Midwife did say I will struggle with identifying a clear pattern. She also said movements will not be the same everyday. But if there is any reduction or anything that concerns you always call Maternity Assessment Unit. (Im in London UK)

I had an anterior placenta and wasn't able to feel my daughters movements as strongly. She was an absolute wriggler in my belly and the placenta really did cushion so much of her movement. Some days i never felt any movement, scans always showed she was an active baby😊

I had one with my oldest son but not with my daughter or youngest son and it definitely makes a huge difference. I could feel my younger two move way earlier and way more consistently then my oldest for sure try not to stress tho!

I have an anterior placenta and felt light movements at 20 weeks and from 21 weeks I feel her all the time and they’re really strong movements, although this is unusual for anterior placentas. Lots of women with anterior placenta dont feel movements til 25 weeks though so don’t worry if you haven’t yet!

I am also anterior and didn’t feel anything till 22 plus three . Even then it wa shard to tell , just bubbles and flutters . Now I am 24 weeks and feel a little more but not all the time . Defo getting stronger tho so hang in there x

I have an anterior placenta too and I felt little tiny movements around then but nothing that stood out or was consistent until like 24-26 weeks and definitely by 28 he had a pattern and movements were bigger. I'm 30 weeks now and I swear he never stops moving😂 you can even see it from the outside

I had an anterior placenta with my son. I was always so worried in the beginning because I couldn't feel him that much. Once I hit 24-25 weeks it was a different story. I could always feel/see his movements on the sides of my belly.

Yeah, our placenta acts like a shock absorber 😅 ive been in loads with reduced movements and shes actually fine but just cos shes behind placenta i cant feel it. She did a lot better probably from 26-33 weeks as she had gotten bigger the kicks were above belly button so i could feel it. But now that she has dropped shes behind my placenta again so i was in yday with RFM! But she is fine 🤷♀️ so stressful! Xx

I also have an anterior placenta

I have an anterior placenta! I started feeling movements around 21/22 weeks, they’re now stronger than ever at 37 weeks! If you’re ever worried ring your midwife/doctor!! You’ll soon get to know his regular movements X

My first daughters placenta was anterior, didn’t feel much throughout the pregnancy. Now I’m 8months with my 2nd and I wish the placenta was anterior this time round for extra comfort during active hours 😵

Currently 33 weeks with my first and I also have an anterior placenta. I still some days go without feeling her. She does not have any type of consistency. Some days she won’t stop moving. My mid wife is not concerned as she stated eveything is cushioned. It does suck but as long as she’s healthy that’s all that matters to me. But she never has an issue finding her heartbeat it’s always sooo loud at all my appnts.

I had an anterior placenta as well and didn’t really feel movements until I was 32 weeks pregnant and he was a bit bigger at that point. I could only feel movements on my side and upper belly

I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone for all these amazing comments and stories. It helps me so much. This is my first and I’m feeling pretty in the dark on what I should and shouldn’t feel and what’s normal! I appreciate all of this so much!

I have an anterior placenta and movement feel quite faint to me. I got all excited last Wednesday as I could feel baby moving a lot and my husband felt it for the first time but my belly felt heavy so I think it had managed to move further forwards. Since then it’s back to the more faint movements feeling and my belly doesn’t feel as heavy.

My first was anterior and I did not feel movement until about 25 weeks

I have an anterior placenta and I’m 37 weeks now. Although this is my first pregnancy so I don’t have anything to compare it to, some days I do feel as though movements aren’t as strong compared to what other women experience. I can still feel movements just sometimes I have to lie still or concentrate to feel them as like you said the placenta acts as a cushion between the kicks. X

When did peoples partners start feeling the baby?

Yep I have an anterior placenta. I felt movements quite early on but they would come and go depending on baby’s position. Still have quieter days now at 33 weeks / days when the kicks aren’t as strong x

Anterior placenta is poop 🤣
It very much cushions alot of movement and can cover the HB a bit and be confusing if you hear the heart or placenta as it can sound a bit similar.
I started feeling good consistent movements from 25w as baby was growing it got stronger and stronger, depending on position.

I’ve only just found out I have an anterior placenta at 24 weeks. I’d been in triage over the weekend with reduced movements as she was going mad during the week then suddenly nothing. I wasn’t satisfied so went for a reassurance scan today and found out my placenta is anterior! She’s not stopped moving now x

Both my first and this pregnancies are anterior placenta. I ended up not feeling movement right away but her the movements weren’t waking me up or hurting me either.

yes i have anterior placenta too and it’s hard to feel them!!! will feel more as we get further along

My first baby had an anterior placenta. It does make it difficult to find the heartbeat and feel the movements. I was sent to the hospital a number of times for checks, when my dr couldn’t find the heartbeat.
My second has a high sitting placenta and the difference is enormous. I can feel EVERYTHING!

Yes I had one and now have a healthy 2 month old!! I didn’t feel for sure movement until about 30 weeks so I was super worried but she’s great!

Yep totally normal. I had an anterior placenta with my first and felt most movement when she got quite bit towards the top of my uterus.
With my second pregnancy I had a posterior placenta and it was a whole different ballgame. I felt EVERYTHING

I had an anterior and started feeling flutters around 18 weeks, full blown kicks by about 21-22 weeks. My husband never got to feel him, but my mom did. I think it depends on baby too though cause I felt him VERY well in there. I can’t imagine how bay it would’ve been if I had a posterior.

Yes i had the same and i felt her from 21 weeks and then thankfully as she got bigger the movements became more noticeable to reassure me daily :)

I also have an anterior placenta. Don’t even worry though!! It took a while to feel my baby to really really move b it now it’s nonstop and and the best feeling ever!! When you feel it just know you’ll feel it from there in our

It’ll continue throughout your pregnancy I’m afraid. I’m 28 weeks and got an anterior placenta and whilst I can feel my baby it’s not as strong as I imagine but he’s fine. I’ve been into the hospital to be checked and he’s healthy and fine. Just harder for us to feel given they are kicking a big chunk of meat

I have an anterior placenta and I did really start to feel my baby until 22 weeks

Yes! I have an anterior placenta and the first time I felt my baby kick was when I was 20 weeks, you will feel it soon. :)
