Baby shower Q

My best friend is organising my baby shower but she’s asked me to put together the guest list. I’ve seen a few pics on here of partners at the baby shower. Is that the norm or is it normally all women?

TIA 💕

It is the norm but I’m inviting men too and having it as a bbq party too

Entirely up to you! I want just women at mine, we are going to do lots of games and an afternoon tea so not really the right vibe for partners.

Avatar

My sister and my MIL organised mine and it was all women. My partner's aunts brought their young daughters with them too but no sons. It was females only.

It's up to you at the end of the day, my partner is going to be at our baby shower, as it'll be in our house+ I'm not good in social situations, and would feel alot more comfortable with him there so all the attention isn't just on me x

My husband wasn't at my baby shower. It's usually a woman's thing.

Avatar

It’s usually just women but do whatever you would like to do! 💞

So my baby shower is at a restaurant with multiple rooms/bars. My husband will be at the restaurant just to pop in and tell everyone thanks for coming along with my brothers and dad. Then they will do their own thing. Then they will be there to carry the heavy stuff home at the end!

Avatar

My husband will be present at our shower due to having one out of town for family members that definitely want to see him and one for his family back where we live.

Avatar

My husband will not be there, but will be hanging out with the husbands of sone of my friends who are coming from out of town. But it’s entirely up to you. We are having at a restaurant and already our guest list is too big to have partners.

A lot of times people will do a ladies only shower, but at the very end the dad to be will stop by for a little bit.

We are having more of a big party 🎉 we are both music teachers and a lot of our students and parents of our students want to come, as well as band mates and fellow teachers so we will have some fun games that anyone can play, snacks, and alcohol and be more of a ‘pre birthday party’

My mum organised mine with my really good friend who’s also my neighbour who ended up hosting it, I had no idea when or where it was going to be! My hubby and friends partner went to the pub for a bit then joined towards the end so I could get a picture with him and bump :) xxx

I organised my own baby shower out of choice 🤣 and I had men and women. My partner, dad, uncles etc. all came and it was a lovely family celebration but it’s totally up to you and what you want

Avatar

my mum organised mine and though i have more boy friends than girl friends, she didn’t allow me to have boys at the baby shower due to “traditional” baby showers, it pissed me off and i had to fight really hard for her to allow my partner to be there as it was a day for both of us. she didn’t have a choice, i told her my partner will be there whether she likes it or not, but i was very annoyed i couldn’t have my guy friends there. so if you want both, have both! if you have no one stopping you then it’s completely your choice 😆 xx

My mother in law threw me a baby shower and it was all women but my husband had his own thing with the boyfriends/ husbands of the women at my shower. My brother and dad were also invited to my husband’s thing. The cool thing was that all the guys brought a pack of diapers or wipes instead of gifts. He called it a diaper party, and they played poker and had drinks and just gave him fatherly advice ( at least the ones that were already dad’s). That’s an idea too.

Traditionally it's all women but there's plenty of co-ed baby showers. We had one and it was super fun! My husband was really excited about the baby so i asked if he wanted to be a part of it and invite other husbands and some of his friends. We had a bunch of games and we had a diaper changing race (baby dolls with baby food in the diapers) with just the men and it was HILARIOUS especially the ones who had never changed a diaper before lol

Avatar

We did just ladies because there were 25 of us. My husband got to golf with friends, which he loved!

Avatar

I think it’s much each time their own 😊 mine is just females and we’re doing afternoon tea and whatever else they have planned 😊 I’m sure my partner will ‘wet the babys head’ when she is here with the boys! X

Personal choice

Avatar

Is only up to you, me and my sis in law we both had family and friends at our baby shower, there isn’t a rule 😘

Avatar

Mine is in July and there will be quite a few men in attendance, my husband included ☺️

Avatar

I’m having a baby shower and my partner and uncles and male friends are coming. I think it totally depends on you I think it used to be the traditional way but we are making it like games that both sexes can do and a little party at the end .

Avatar

We’re doing two couples showers! And I just went to a family friends where men were there and it was so fun!

Avatar

We’re planning essentially a co-ed bbq/cocktail party where people can bring the baby presents and touch my belly 😂 I absolutely do not want baby shower games!

Avatar

My husband was there. X

Avatar

My baby shower was all female, having to spend the day at a baby shower would have been my partners worst nightmare 🤣 x

Avatar

i was going to do a mix, but ended up going the traditional route and was women only - after a few hours my boyfriend came home and then the rest of the partners etc shortly arrived later as guests left, for an after shower gathering! do whatever you feel is for you 🥰

Avatar

I asked my partner if he wanted to come and he “didn’t fancy sitting in a room full of girls talking about placentas” 😅😅 It was nice having a girly day, but definitely up to you both. If he wants to come, I’d say yes, if not don’t worry 🥰

Avatar

Your choice

Avatar

It is more modern to have both, but it is also Up to preference, mine is gonna have bother guys and girls because I want it to be celebrating me and my guy.

Avatar

I think it's personal choice. Generally I think its all women but I know people who have had partners there too. I don't think my boyfriend would have wanted to come, he thinks they are a bit silly anyway

Avatar

All women! The games you will play and what you will talk about are aimed at women!

Tired.

Mamas… what do you do when you’re tired? Tired of cooking, cleaning, taking care of kids, laundry, dishes, DINNER, taking care of a household shoot taking care of yourself.
I’m a ftm also sahm. I’m tired I want to run away. I feel like I have the whole world on my shoulders, the only true time I have to myself is at night then I’ll have to juggle going to bed at a decent time or stay up and regret it in the morning. I don’t like this feeling, HELP

C-Section / More Kids?

I was told after your first time getting a c-section, all your future kids would be born that way, is it true moms? Furthermore, I thought I was going to die after that surgery and post partum , to have to go through that again even more than 2 times is scary. I wouldn’t wish this surgery on anyone! Am I alone with this thought?

Body issue two years pp

Hiiii.

I have an embarrassing issue that I didn’t have before pregnancy and wondering if anyone else has experienced it. I’m almost 2 years post partum at this point. Pooping is miserable and it’s so hard to do now. I never had this issue before.
I had a really hard labor and didn’t have a BM for about a week after I had my son. My dr said it was normal but I just can’t believe it’s still like this.
Also I have such bad back pain now that I thought would go away. But it’s really just stayed the same. I did have to get an epidural twice.
Does anyone still have pregnancy/ postpartum issues? I’m to embrassed to ask anyone in my real life

Circumcision 10 months old

Hey,
Today was my child's circumcision appointment, but I stepped away and said no. I didn't dare. How was I going to have the guts to do it? I was at the clinic, and I melted and started crying so badly that I couldn't. Now, have I made the right decision? I wasn't ready

What was your experiences in getting it done in older kids?

Thanks

NHS 12 week scan?

I’m coming up to 10 weeks and have my first booking appointment next week when I’ll be nearly 11 weeks- I’ve not heard anything about my 12 week scan? I had a private scan yesterday (photo) and the sonographer said my NHS scan should have been booked by now otherwise it will be too late to do any health screening?! Now I’m in a panic lol- has anyone else had their scan later than 12weeks as at this rate I think I’ll be having it between 13-15 weeks?
