Pumping moms hack

Not sure if this helps anyone but my friend told me she wished she would have known when she was breastfeeding so I thought I would share. When I'm done pumping I just throw the lid on and will put the day on a pice of tape either then or later that day. It has helped me keep track of when the milk was pumped. Hope it helps someone ps ignore my nasty refrigerator.

I personally used the top shelf side of the fridge only for my sons bottles and just put them in order as I pumped like in a line from oldest to the freshest being at the end.

Yeah I used to do that to but then my husband would put my milk away or move things šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

oh haha ofcourse ..my bf said "babe why don't you just put them in order? Do you even know what milk as been sittinghere the longest?" The first time i asked him to put the milk away and I had to get up and show him that they were and he was like "oh" and I was like "do tou think im stupid? you do know that I know more than you right?" And he laughed šŸ˜…

I like the pitcher method, I pump through the day and it all goes in one large container, then gets divided into bottles or bags.

I always wonder how do you guys pump so much milk n store the extra

For me whatever is pumped is mostly consumed and i have to use formula for supplement

I pump every 2-3hrs around 80-100ml , in case i miss the pumping i pump 120-160ml depends how late i am pumping.

My baby is 2months old n he drinks 100-120ml each feeding.

Please advise how can i pump extra n store it.

I stick post it’s on mine with the dates

I use an expo marker, I write on the side of the bottles or the lid of mason jars. Depending how much I pump and how I choose to store it. It’s been easy to keep track of dates and times (my amount of pumping varies due to work, at home or just random events planned). I’m not a good planner! I will also ā€œfor bathā€ if it’s old or sat out too long but isn’t smelly. Just past expiration to consume.

I will also prefill bottles and label them with times they should be eaten at and a jar full of extra just in case. When transitioning to a babysitter I was terrible at asking how many ounces my daughter drank but somehow asking how much was left of each bottle was more helpful. If she needed just an ounce or more than measured out usually babysitter will text me to keep track. It’s hard to remember these things sometimes.

Anshika don't put yourself down. Any milk you make is amazing. And you are still doing what it takes to keep your baby fed even if you have to supplement. The reason it looks like so much is because I pump every 3 or 2 hours and it's anywhere from 2 oz to 4 oz all together. I dont add any milk together unless it's the same temp so I have a bunch of small bottles in the fridge unless they are the same temp to combine. I have found staying on a pumping schedule has helped I pump the same time everyday and I also power pump. What has definitely been the most help is hand expressing after each pump. It took me a bit to find out the best way but once I did I get at least a half oz more just from hand expressing. Don't give up. Any milk you make is good. šŸ’—

so it’s one pitcher per day?

I put my pumped milk into a jug and then decante it at the end of the day into milk storage bags with the date ( I have hyperlatcation so pump a ridiculous amount daily)

When the twins were in nicu we would put into bodies with time and date but now home we find this easiest . We then freeze what I've produced ready for donation and keep some for addiotnal feeds they can't take bottles. X

I used chalkboard stickers and chalk pens so it saves removing tape etc, you just wash off the pen and rewrite on it.

I don't get what the "hack" is. Don't you always have to date them anyway? I would use containers or bags always labelled

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Rant/WWYD

My sister (youngest, 24) has two kids, 4 & 1, and i (oldest, 30) just have my one who’s 6mo old right now, so i ask her for advice or call her to vent about things sometimes. Well im tired of her turning around and telling my other family members that I’m ā€œlosing my sh*t.ā€ Literally have not lost my sh*t nor have i ever freaked out to her about my baby, i just call her to talk and tell her what stage my baby is in or talk through how im feeling, but she chooses to tell people that im like a complete nutcase or something which worries me that my family is going to start being judgmental about me as a mother or looking at me funny like I’m some fragile ticking time bomb.

What would you do in this situation? I’m already pretty much decided that I’ll stop telling her anything about my struggles, but I’m almost at the point where i feel like it should be confronted because she, of all people, should understand what I’m going through.

Not drinking

I’m going crazy. Baby born at 2.26kg. Slow to put on weight. This last week hasn’t put on any. Been trying to feed him at night and he’s not interested at all. Fast asleep. During day he will have 5 minute gulps and that’s it. He don’t cry for milk. I’ve got to keep offering to him. I try to offer it every hour but I don’t know what I’m doing. HV said nutrition comes after 5 minutes so I should pump first and then give him. I find it so hard. I tried to pump one boob nothing came. The other abit came. Tried giving him express he’s not interested in that too. Sometimes he will go for a longer a feed but not long at all. He’s 4 months and is currently 5.46kg. I have no family or friend support here and wish I had a cook, cleaner and nanny to help with everything so I can concentrate on the little one. I don’t know what’s wrong with him but I’m loosing it. It doesn’t help that my also stressed generally about my relationship and life circumstances. Any advice that will work. Any comfort you can give. I’m fed up. Is this regression - not feeding. He’s fast fast asleep. I’ve been trying to push the nipple in but that mouth is closed shut. I took some clothes off. Changed his nappy but he’s still asleep. Please help

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too
