Nap time!

How long do you let your kids sleep for nap time? And what are your routines? I'm desperate for ideas with my 2 kids. Haha

Are your little cuties not napping or they just don’t have a schedule?

Avatar

My little naps 3 hours after she wakes up in the morning for anywhere between 1-3 hours. We try to get an afternoon nap in 3 hours after she wakes up from her morning nap. She’s now 11 months and has been cutting out her afternoon nap lately. If she has an afternoon nap it is usually 30 minutes - 1 hour.

My boy is 2 and he will nap from around 1 till 2.45 -3 I usually wake him up

Mine is 2. So she naps from about 1-3. sometime to 3:30. I try and not let her nap last 3:30 or it is a long process when 7:3 rolls around for bed.

Hi! My son is only 6 months old but we have a really great schedule from a book called “Moms on Call”. They have books for 0-6 months, 6-15 months, and toddler age! I highly recommend it. It has truly changed our lives for the better to have a good schedule. I wish you luck!

Omg your oldest looks just like mine when he sleeps.

I’m following this thread for people’s ideas

Hi! My little guy is 18mo and he has about 2 naps a day. He sleeps anywhere from 1.5-3 hours, and as long as he has at least 4-5 hours before bedtime I just let him sleep. I used the sleep sense program and he’s been sleeping consistently for the last 3 months. If you like, I can give you my login email and password and you’re free to use the program! It has videos and PDF eBooks on what to do.

They look like the crashed right in the middle of playing.

I followed Dr Janet Kennedy’s book The Good Sleeper for my kids. My 18 mo sleeps 13 hours a night. Naps for 2 hours.

Naps should be similar to bedtime. Dark, quiet room. Sleeps in bed. No longer than 3 hours. Early bedtimes are important.

I let me son sleep as long as he wants which ranges from 1 to 2 hours. I set up the expectations at 11 but closing blinds and quieting things down just like my nighttime routine. I put him in his bed at noon and just leave in his room and he eventually falls asleep. It’s been working well lately. It’s all about getting them calm before bedtime. I used to just set him in the bed at noon and run away but he is still so wired and didn’t want to sleep. He is two as well and we just switched him to the toddler bed so I’ve been using the pack and play for naps and the big boy bed for nighttime. Hopefully that helps.

I’m having issues with my toddler sleeping earlier than 10 pm. I give her a bag and feed her every night around 8 and it helps but she refuses to sleep in her own bed. Need suggestions..

My kids (5,3,1) and both my older ones haven’t napped since about 18mos. So willl milk any and every nap my 1year old takes until he stops! We are constantly on the go, so we don’t have a schedule. He naps when he naps. I found that not having a schedule has helped him being able to nap better, since the noise levels are always changing. I do have a specific night time routine that I always (try) to follow. Dinner + PJs + movie + “sleep cream” which is just a lavender lotion run down and hopefully sleeping by 830-9pm

Honestly I let my daughter sleep as long as she wants too as long as it doesn’t effect her nighttime routine. She goes down around 1:00 and usually at home wakes around 5:00 ... I don’t let her sleep past 5:30 or it effects her bedtime.

My daughter is 18m, she naps for about 2h in the afternoon. Right now I work but before when I was home the routine was we would get up and have breakfast, do some structured/educational play for a bit while she had good attention get dressed & ready, quick snack, go to free play groups, library, groceries, playground, etc depending on the day but I’d try to do one outing. Then come home have lunch, nap, quick snack, outside time or if the weather was bad bake and put on music and dance, if she was really cranky we’d watch a show. By then dad was home from work! During nap I’d try to prep supper and do chores for a few minutes then have a coffee and relax.

My daughter wakes up at 11 a.m. and goes to sleep at 11 p.m. she either takes two small naps one of which is in the car or she takes one four hour nap in the middle of the day bear in mind this is extremely recent! She was preemie and had a lot of other issues. Which caused her to sleep barely at all.

I let my son sleep until he wakes up on his own organically. I do not wake him unless it's absolutely necessary. Sometimes he'll only nap an hour, sometimes it's 3 hours. I let his body decide how long of a nap he needs.

My son is going to be 4 months n not he only naps for 20mins during the day. Iam burned out ladies. What can I do to get him to nap longer

Avatar

Just remember more sleep equals more sleep. I didnt realize what this ment until I had children but if they get sleep during the day they sleep better in the evening.

My son is 9 months and it has gotten out of control he lives recklessly. He has no sense of routine. Sleeps and wakes up as he likes. I’m typing this at 03.35AM and rocking him back and fourth in his pram. He was better before solids were introduced. Breastfeeding was life! He was better as a newborn than he is now! The teething doesn’t help at all!

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰
