I am 51 years and menopausal. I have afew health issues also. Prone to cellulitis infections in my psoriasis, so needless to say to have ingested antibiotics like they were candy. I also have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.
I remember back at least 5 years ago if I put my mind to it I could lose weight easily. With good nutrition and exercise, mostly walking. Now I can't shift my weight even when I try. I've had a fibro Scan and I've been told I have no scarring or lesions but at the high end of inflammation scale. I am assuming this is bc of the many antibiotics I have taken over the yrs. Menopause has also been a challenge for me. Leaving me with a menopausal belly, unable to lose weight, bouts of anxiety and depression, mood swings, low grade night sweats and I find if I eat clean it helps tremendously with hot flashes.
I've been carrying a uti infection for 13 weeks now scared to death to take more antibiotics and the bacteria in my body flares my fibromyalgia. It's one things after another and I am feeling very frustrated with GP, I can tell he knows very little about Menopause. He has refused to refer me to an endocrinologist but instead referred me to internal medicine. I feel unheard and falling thru the cracks of the health care system here in Canada.
I follow Dr. Mary Haver, Texas on Instagram and I find her to be very knowledgeable, I wish she was in my side of the world.

Hey Barbara! I was forced into menopause due to chemo and radiation when I was 43. I found alcohol caused a lot more hot flashes so I go without. I started having troubles with a 'food baby belly', that is what we called it, for awhile. I started intermittent fasting where I eat only 8 hours of the day and don't eat for 16 hours. It has made a world of difference. I also take high quality supplements daily and try to eat healthy. It has become easier to eat healthier when I only have the short window with which to eat. I often second guess if I am tempted to eat something not so good.
You sound like you have some challenges but seem to continue to push forward. Great job! Not many care enough about their bodies to continue trying. Great mindset to keep trying.

Hu Barbara. I am in Canada too. 52 years old and had many symptoms until I started taking BHRT (also recommended by Dr.Mary Haver) - this was the best decision every. Losing weight is still a battle but it was before meno for me as well

Have any of you lovely ladies played around with your hormones? I have heard many things on the positive side but have not looked into it for myself

I was forced into menopause this year at age 35. I have been taking HRT, BioTe. It’s a bioidentical hormone, and I believe it’s made a world of difference. I’ve learned that testosterone is extremely important for women (weight, irritability, fatigue and brain fog). Unfortunately insurance doesn’t cover it, but it’s worth the expense. I’ve played around with the doses and have finally found what works best for me. I get the pellets every three months. Let me know if you have any questions I might be able to help with, but check it out if you haven’t heard of it!

I've just started HRT,so hoping it will make me feel myself again. So far so good no side affects .

Hi I'm in surgical menopause after my hysterectomy, I'm on hrt patches, testosterone and vaginally pessary to help manage the symptoms.
Hot flushes weren't too bad, patches dealt with that. The bad memory and "fog" is slowly improving but I do forget I'm doing a lot more then I used to and it feels horrid. More like a black out where I literally can't remember anything rather then a "i forgot why I came into this room" feeling. It the lack of sex drive thats getting to me. Im only 39 and used to have a very healthy one. No I feel nothing 😢 testosterone and pessary is helping but slowly.
I'm uk based, we get this on prescription but trying to get a doctor to prescribe can be hard going. I'm hoping to get my dosage upped next week though!

I am on the east coast of Canada, over across the pond lol. I have not yet dealt with my menopause symptoms..I have other health issues I am in desperate need to pull ahead of.
I see a naturopath doctor this week and I am praying he will be my saving grace.
Sadly my GP isn't knowledgeable on menopausal symptoms I can tell, he just falls short in any type of conversation.
I too use to have a very healthy appetite for sex. But I don't even think about it anymore. It was like a light switch someone turned off for me. And my spouse is 5 years younger than me. And we are in trouble.
I am gonna pick the naturopath drs brain, and I will eventually see someone in Internal medicine that will answer my menopausal concerns hopefully, if no I will ask again for a referral to endocrinologist.
Just waiting on a small miracle to help turn this all around for me.
P.S. DHA found in Omega 3 is good for cognitive function helped tremendously with my brain fog.
Good luck!

I’m also menopausal and Fibro blessed. I have the meno-belly and gained 12 lbs in 5-6 mo. I used to have chronic UTI’s. Now I take a chewable cranberry tablet daily from Melaleuca and it really keeps the UTI’s a bay. I also saw a naturalist that’s also a LNP and he specializes in fibro. He prescribed me Low Dose Naltrexone. I moved 6 house from him and my current practitioner also prescribes LDN. It been an absolute lifesaver. I don’t know if it’s available in Canada, but it’s worth a try. There is also a website where you can do telegraph and have it prescribed online.

I have been in menopause for 2 years. My hot flashes are mostly at night. Which then has me doing the sheet dance, on, off etc. Does anyone else sometimes only sweat from belly to knees? This is at night and I had to make sure I didn't pee myself! Holy hell!
I can't take HRT. Just living my fucking best life! Lol
