I am at the very start of my pregnancy & have no idea how midwife’s work. Do I go find one myself or will I be told at one of my appointments that I need to go to a certain place to meet the midwife the doctor has given me. I have no idea & probably sound so stupid. Help?

Congrats on the pregnancy!!! 🥰For my case, I was being referred by my gp to see the midwife when I'm 20 weeks pregnant, they will usually referred you to the midwife who is working at the hospital where you are going to be giving birth at. I have to call up the hospital 2 weeks before I'm in my 20th week to book a time with my midwife.❤

Thank you hun! That has helped a lot thank you so much! xx

My doctor sent a referral to the hospital I wanted to give birth in and they contacted me regarding appointments from around 20 weeks. But the midwives you meet with aren't necessarily the ones who deliver baby. It all depends on who is working when you go into labour. This also depends if your public or private as well. If your private I think you have more appointments with an ob/gyn instead of midwives and appointments start sooner.. Where as with public you see your gp for the start of the pregnancy and switch to midwives at 20 weeks.

That sucks because I am moving halfway through my pregnancy all the way across Australia. I live in Victoria and I’m going to Perth. So I guess it will change over.
