I’ve struggled with my view of food and giving my body nutrients my whole life. Prior to getting pregnant though, I was in a pretty good place. I was eating what I wanted, when I wanted, working out regularly, and having minimal days of self hatred. I wasn’t nutrient conscious by any stretch of the imagination, but I also wasn’t eating terribly. A filling breakfast, a protein shake with fruit at lunch, and kind of whatever for dinner. I didn’t count calories, macros, or anything else because that would bring on obsessive thoughts.
Unfortunately, at 7 weeks pregnant (I’m at 9 now), I started getting nauseous, but the only solution I found is to eat VERY often. But also, I can’t eat as much in one meal as I used to be able to. So my entire day has been restructured around eating constantly (or that’s what it feels like at least). I’ve had to switch from ~3 meals a day to 6-8 small meals. And, I’ve had to be more conscious about what I’m eating because if I don’t get enough protein in each meal, I’m having to eat even more often. Understandably (I think), this has made my relationship with food to become very negative again. I hate that I have to be thinking about what I’m eating again, because it’s bringing back my urge to obsess about the number of calories/etc, and restrict my intake.
I guess I’m just looking for some emotional support and hope that this might get better.

Natali I hear you. This was absolutely me and I was getting really tressed about my eating through the nausea.
I need not have worried. My body knew what it was doing. Just eat what helps. That’s all that’s important- get through the nausea. You can worry about nutrients later. And you can worry about weight much later. But right now, just survive these worst weeks.
For me it got better after week 10 (stopped spewing) and the nausea completely left by week 14. I’m now 17 weeks and gaining weight, but hungry and eating again.
I’m trying to take my own advice. Trust my body it knows what it’s doing. Now I’m not nauseated I can exercise again and I’m focusing on healthier meals.
I’m telling myself I’m not fat I’m pregnant and the focus is on health and balance, not weight.
I have bad days though, but that’s my approach for now

This is all so helpful, thank you 🧡🧡
