Advantages of monitoring basal body temperature?

I currently use the clear blue advanced digital ovulation tests each month, and it shows me a peak smiley face, so presume that I ovulate ok. Does anybody do ovulation tests as well as monitoring their basal body temperature? What is the advantage of doing both? I haven’t taken my temperature yet, as I thought it’s just another thing that can add pressure and can become possessive over. However if it’s really beneficial then I will do it. Don’t really know much about it. Thanks in advance.

I use both, I actually only used BBT for a long time before starting to use ovulation tests the last couple months.
The tests show when your LH is high but doesn’t actually tell you if you’ve ovulated, BBT is the only way (except going to docs) that can confirm you actually need ovulate.
Your temp then reduces a few days before AF shows so I can prepare myself.

Overall I’d defo recommend tracking BBT. I use a femometer thermometer at their app.

Thanks Hayley do you use BBT everyday of your cycle or just around when you think you are going to ovulate?

Every day for an accurate result

Everyday. It’s just second nature now.

Yes best practice is to do both! The tests only tell you the conditions are ripe for ovulation but don’t tell you that you HAVE ovulated. Temping will tell you that you HAVE ovulated but won’t help you time sex so both is perfect! Use the tests to time sex and temping to confirm you ovulated and are done testing for that cycle :)

Thanks Megan, that’s really clear x

I started charting BBT about 6 years ago when I went off BC. I was still TTA when I went off of it and only did it because I wanted to see what my body was like not on it! After taking the pill for 14+ years I figured it was probably doing something negative! 🤷🏼‍♀️ I also didn’t know anything about charting BBT, CM, or cervical conditions so when I read about it I was like, “I can do that!” Using it when TTA is easy because it confirms ovulation so you know when you’re “safe.” I used the Kindara app all these years and it’s just very easy and eye-opening to learn about your body and your cycle! I also liked that I knew the morning my temp dropped I’d get my period! Now that I’m TTC it’s still helpful because it confirms ovulation and you can look for ovulation dips, implantation dips, and a triphasic pattern in hopes of pregnancy! I’d say definitely do it!!!

I usually have a body temp of 97.6, I've always run cold. My body temp like a few hours ago was 98.1. My period app says I'm expecting AF tomorrow. With my temp that high, is it off?

Could I be pregnant?

Hi everyone, my period is due tomorrow the 24th but I tested negative today. Is there still a chance I could be pregnant if my period doesn't come tomorrow? Who has been in this situation before and how many days after a missed period did you test positive? 🙏

Sadly Desperate

I’ve been a step mom for over 6 years now and it seems like this year it has all went to hell. My relationship with my step kids, my feelings as a stepmom and everything else in general. I love my husband and he supports me every way he can I just don’t have anyone else in my situation that can help or understands what I’m going through. If anyone is willing to listen or just give their thoughts I would greatly appreciate it 💜

Peak day but burned out :(

We’ve been TTC for a while now. However this is only the second cycle that I am tracking LH/ovulation. A couple months ago I had a health issue which threw off my cycle a little bit. So I wasn’t certain if my LH would have a high peak this month. As you can see from my attached chart, my husband and I kept at it and had sex in the days leading up to CD14 which is when I thought I would ovulate, however here I am on CD18 with a dye stealer ovulation test (second photo attached), but with an incredibly burned out husband since we’ve had sex for 2 days in a row after only 1 day break following 4 more days of sex. But today is officially ovulation day and he is so tired the poor thing :( He is a free spirit and likes to keeps things spontaneous but has been such a team player with trying to time sex this cycle. It’s just come to a point where it feels cruel of me to ask him to do it again tonight. What would you do? Should we just count on the sperm from the last two days? Is there a point in having sex tomorrow in the hopes of catching the egg?
