Anyone giving birth at Alexandra Cohen Hospital (Weill Cornell Upper East)

Hi! I wanted to know if anyone has given or going to give birth at Alexandra Cohen hospital. So many questions I have:

How’s the labor room? Do they have TV in the labor room? Is there a Cornell birth template? How is the staff? Anyone in particular who is amazing? Do they have a shower in labor room and private room? How’s the food? 😃

As far as their website everyone is guaranteed a private room both antepartum and postpartum

I will be giving birth there. Have heard great things. Following to hear others’ experiences though!

I gave birth there this summer. It was a great experience. The staff are generally nice, although I found the newborn care nurses to be a little all over the place in terms of advice. I wished I got even more help the first few days. There’s a shower in labor room and postpartum, although you prob won’t be recommended to use it right after giving birth. They have a tv

thanks! Wow. I have heard amazing things as well. Glad that there is all this available just in case husband needs to shower or before I get released for home I could.

Yes it’s amazing. Much better than the previous main hospital L&D. It was the most calm and supportive birth I have had of all four of my children.

thanks! That’s good to know. Do they have a nursery? Or the baby stays with you in the private room all the time?

Avatar

yes they have a nursery but baby really stays with you unless you ask very clearly and give directions about keeping & feeding. They will take and bring to feed unless you ask them to keep & feed.

and yes it’s private rooms the whole time, it’s great. I delivered during covid when it opened and only me, my husband and nurse and Ob were in my room. Then solo room for post partum and only one visitor. You order food on the app, it’s really good, they were very supportive of how to feed colostrum (drops on fingers) and let me do contact after delivery for a while.

this is so so good. Helps with the anxiety of being in a hospital. Thank you!

my doctor is with the high risk practice or I would recommend him. Anyone with Weill Cornell medical OBGYN associates is great and would deliver there.

Has anyone had an unmedicated birth with little intervention there? I’m worried about being pushed in vulnerable moments

I ended up getting an epidural too last minute. Everything was great there! I missed that hospital. I didn’t wanna go home.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Baby names

My daughter‘s name is valentýna and I’m struggling to find other nice girl and boy names beginning with V I’ve got a few and I’ve got loads that aren’t beginning with V, but I feel like I wanna go for all vs and I also love girl and boys names that match so because my daughter’s name is valentýna I would love to call my son Valentino my husband does not agree 😃

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!
