Preeclampsia

Hi friends, I was just diagnosed with preeclampsia last night, I’m 33 weeks. I’m just feeling really nervous and would love any advice or encouragement from other moms.

Getting your blood pressure down is important right now (always but more so right now). Look up pregnancy workouts by trimester if you want on Youtube. Walk more even in 3rd trimester. Eat healthier food choices more vegetables and fresh fruit as well. Get rid of saturated fats in your diet. Try and get as much sleep as you can because that helps with stress. Stress is huge for high blood pressure. So try to destress as much as you can.

Question. Qere you having heart palpitations? I'm getting checked for preclampsia this week and was wondering

I just got diagnosed today, I’m cutting as much salt as I can and plan on walking as much as my body lets me (I swell up like a balloon by the end of the driveway but I will push myself haha). They told me nothing really needs to change as long as I’m keeping my blood sugars good (I have gestational diabetes as well). Have they talked to you about Induction? They’re inducing me at 37 weeks

Hi! I definitely understand how you feel. I was diagnosed at 30 weeks and 4 days and I will be 32 week tomorrow! Let me know if you need anything I am here to always talk!

@Shawnee hey Shawnee! I did not have heart palpitations. I felt totally fine, just had high blood pressure.

@Krystal hey Krystal! I also have gestational diabetes, yay we are just winning! I’m also being included at 37 weeks.

@Analise yay us! Haha 😂 it’s one thing after another over here. I guess it’s what I get for having an “easy” pregnancy up until now 😂

Preeclampsia is solely driven by the placenta. What helps with BP management outside of pregnancy doesn’t fix it here. So don’t get overwhelmed or disappointed when you make changes in your diet and exercise etc. those are still good. But my advice as an ob - be aware of the dangerous symptoms. Head to toe: Headaches that don’t go away after Tylenol, hydration and rest, vision changes (spots, swiggly lines etc), shortness of breath or chest pain when you’re resting, pain on the upper part of your abdomen especially the right side or swelling ( legs are expected, but if you see your hands and face has doubled that’s not okay). Any of these concerns or your blood pressures are greater than 160 (top number) or 110 (bottom number), call your Ob ASAP! Once you have preclampsia, going past 37 weeks is dangerous for you and the baby.
