Wondering if anyone could shed some light on car seats. Weve narrowed down what travel system we want between 2 sets. The one we would prefer, the car seat is an isofix or rather it comes with the isofix base. We don't drive. So we would need to be able to put the car seat in any car or taxi we use etc. If we get the isofix base one, would this be possible? Or would we have to go for the other set so we could use the car seat.

Hey. The car that you travel on or other cars will need to have Isofix anchors in the back seat of the car so the Isofix base can be clicked into it. Most cars do have them now.

No you don’t “need” an isofix. Our car seat has an isofix base and fits the isofix but still has all the bits to be strapped into a car with seatbelts (ie with no isofix).

We've gone for the cybex car seat and whilst we have an iso fix base for our car it can be strapped in by the seat belt if needed for other cars

As long as the car seat can be detached from the iso fix and has the ability to be strapped using seatbelts then it’s fine.
The 2nd car seat we got for our son (out grew at 13 months) doesn’t detach from the isofix but this may be because it’s for a toddler so you aren’t going to take them about in the car seat like a baby.

I would go for the one you can use without the isofix base - while you could put the base into most modern cars they're pretty heavy and I don't think you'd want to lug them about!
