Hi! Did anyone have an induction at 37 weeks due to medical reasons, as their first birth. How did it go? I’m nervous ): tomorrow is the day!

I did. I had a great birth experience.
He was born 6lb 7 I think🧐
He did have jaundice which wasn’t noticed in the hospital so we had to go back in because it caused loads of weight loss, but if the doctors had noticed it then he would of just been put under some lights in between feeds on the first day and would of been fine x
thank ur for the positive story!!❤️ we’re you dilated when you checked in? What process did they use?

I was 3cm if I remember correctly. I had the balloon that opened my cervix up and caused my mucus plug to come out.
However it didn’t actually put me in labor at all so a few days later they gave me the hormone drip to put me into labor x

That Pitocin is a freaking ride but just hang on and it’ll be over before you know it!

FTM I was induced due to a climbing blood pressure my last month of pregnancy. I was only 1cm dilated going in for induction.. they inserted a gel and told me to come back 8hrs later and I was still 1cm. They decided to proceed and take me to the birthing suite where they broke my water (immediately at 1cm) and there was meconium (baby poo) which may or may not be an issue depending if the baby breathes it in on the way out and also is a sign of stress in the baby… they went ahead and started pitocin and I was shocked how quickly they turned it up… the forced contractions were painful and every minute… after 12hrs and ONLY progressing to 4cm when they assumed I was at a 7cm with baby still showing signs of being in distress with heart rate climbing and dipping, they suggested a c-section and we went ahead with it. Although they ended up having to put me under anesthesia because I felt pain from the 3rd incision.

I’m NOT against being induced, but I wish I knew more… I wish I had more of a say in how things went so fast… everything escalated WAY too fast. Be sure to speak up and see if they will let you go more at your own pace. I asked why they had to break my water at 1cm dilated as I read that the induced contractions are more painful after your water breaks but they said they had to do it… and I’m still not sure about it as I read it’s best for water to be broken once things are moving along and you are at least a couple of cm dilated… Also YOU have a say as to how many cervix checks they do. I had one almost every hour and it was not fun to hear “no progress” it was painful. Not to mention having someone check your cervix in the middle of having a contraction… I literally threw up and started asking them to stop checking me so frequently.

Not trying to scare you! Just sharing my experience as I WISH I knew more…. be led as you go in! Yes, trust the health workers but also go with your gut. Roll with the contractions and breathe. And pace yourself. Stay calm and focused and you can make it momma! <3
