Changed due date

If your OB changed your due date, I would go with that. If it’s just the ultrasound tech tho and your OB hasn’t gone over your ultrasound scan yet to confirm any date change, I wouldn’t.

I measured 4-5 days off and ultimately we didn’t change my due date.
Most places don’t change the date unless the measurements are off by 10 days or more

At the 12week scan, thats the "due date" they'll use throughout your pregnancy now. Best to stick with that to avoid confusion

They’re likely both wrong but the 12 weeks scan will be less wrong. Only about 4% to 5% of babies are born on their due date. It’s more of a rough window.

My initial date based on my last period was 10th March, they then moved it back to March 5th at the dating scan.
I had to be induced and little one arrive March 18th. So if they've given you a later date, I'd say thats better because your baby is given more time to come on their own without being pressured into induction.

I knew my due date with my first because I knew the exact date of conception. Based on my first official scan, it was a 2 day difference because she was measuring slightly ahead . My daughter ended up being born 6 days early anyway.

As others have said you go by the date given at the 12 week scan. My due date was changed even though I was pregnant via IVF so the exact dates were known. It’s all an estimate at the end of the day, by IVF dates I was due 6th Jan, this was changed to 4th Jan at 12 week scan and baby arrived naturally on the 27th December. Xx

Go by the date the ultrasound tech has given. Mine was showing as February 5th 2026. The ultrasound tech said 29th January. And that’s how they track you. She ended up coming on the 7th January anyway X

With my first, they changed the due date from 21st Feb to 24th Feb. In the end I was induced due to GDM on 20th Feb and little one arrived on the 21st... So nothing changed in the end. With my second now, they changed it from 11th August to 12th August. So, in the end not much.

For both my kids I had the due date change by 3-5 days at the 12 week scan (it was brought forward I have big babies) I know when my period is as well as sex and ovulation as I track those things. 2nd baby came 10 days early from the adjusted date so 13 days early using LMP. 1st was induced at term for no movement she would have cooked past her LMP date. a few days could be how the sonographer is taking measurements or your babies are chunky over achievers like mine. Use the scan dates if you don’t want to deal “let’s induce” talk and just know you will likely go early or your tracking may have been a few days off when you conceived.

Yes turns out I was 11 weeks and 3 days

My due date was changed at my 20 week scan, it was moved forward by 3 days. That adjusted date happened to be the date my son was born naturally.

Mine changed at my scan from 21st April to 15th and the 15th is what I and midwives etc have used since. Keeping 21st in the back of my mind though to help back myself up in case of pressure to induce if she’s ‘late’ xx

I went by the 12 week scan which was frustrating initially because my period was very precise. Fast forward, don’t even think about (28 weeks now)

We did, my initial due date was the 11th and then it was changed to the 16th - baby came on the 11th🥰🤣

Hi! Midwife here! This is completely normal. The due date can change because if we use the last period we’re not taking into consideration that some months we can ovulate earlier or later, not exactly 14 days after the first day of the last period. Some women have longer, shorter or even irregular periods, so we use the baby’s measures and adjust the due date because of that.
But after week 12 is not accurate, so changing the due date in the 20 week scan shouldn’t be done, after that is each baby’s growth and it varies between different babies :)

I had zero clue when I concieved prior to testing possitive as we weren't exactly trying that month at all. Apparently she was concieved based on my due date and day before I had my period that month. She arrived 2 days after my due date. When I had my 7 week scan it was 1 day out compared to my 12 week scan.

It can happen that the egg fertilises later or earlier on then expected. Your womb and filopian tubes are interesting. The tubes can house sperm for up to 5 days feeding them so they can be right where is required for then the egg comes. Its facinating

I was tracking my cycle closely as I was preparing to go for IVF so know my dates were right, but I had a strong positive test before I even missed a period (I’m very regular and wasn’t getting usual symptoms it was coming, hence testing) and my HCG levels were really high early on (which made me panic it might be twins!).

I had a scan at 7 weeks and measured 7 weeks 3 days and have my 12 week scan this week so will be interesting to see if that changes again.
