My midwife’s just told me that I can request a sweep from 39 weeks. Has anyone else been told this? Anyone previously had a sweep that’s been successful in starting labour?

Yes same… I’m not sure yet whether to do it or not? Suppose it means you might meet baby sooner? 🥰 but might not work. Supposed to feel a bit like a smear ive heard.

My midwife offers routine sweeps from 38 weeks x

Yes I’m having mine at 39 weeks x

My midwife told me that sweeps before 40 weeks don't actually work and its pointless having them x

Interesting!! With my first (10 years ago) they wouldn’t let me have one until I’d passed my due date. Didn’t work anyway but thinking it could be worth a try again this time. I’m not sure how I feel about her being born before 40 weeks though as I know the longer the better the better but on the flip side I also don’t want to be induced again and go two weeks over 🙃😂 in order to go to my preferred birth unit I need to go into labour naturally between 37-42 weeks. Help 😂 🤷🏻♀️

My sweep was successful at 40 with my daughter, I’m getting a sweep at 38 this time.

that’s encouraging! How long after having it did your labour start if you don’t mind me asking?

so I had two, one at 39.3 and then another at 40. The first one I started contracting still in the hospital I got it done but they stopped within an hour. And the second 40.2 I actually gave birth.

great thank you so much 😊

Iny trust they offer it at 41 weeks
