MAM or Tommee Tippee?

Hello! I’m currently 36w pregnant with my second, just wondering if anyone can recommend one bottle brand over the other? I used Tommee tippee bottle for my first born but Ive seen loads of people using MAM bottles recently and it has made me wonder what the hype is all about 😂 thanks 😊 xx

I use nano bebe ones I like those

Switched from TT to MAM as they take 3 mins to sterilise in the microwave

If you’re planning to breastfeed alongside bottles the best ones are lansinoh

thank you that’s really helpful 👍🏼

I’m planning to bf but it didn’t work out with my first unfortunately, hoping for better luck second time round! In your experience what makes these ones good for combination feeding please? Thank you xx

MAM and they are also aesthetically pleasing, lol

I combo feed with MAM, express milk and pour into the bottle for feeds when I’m out and about.

the shape of the teats on mam and TT bottles are so different to human nipples and causes them to suck differently. Baby would therefore try to get milk from you in a different way which would be very very painful for you! I’ve spent hours and hours researching it 😴😴 I can send you some links to IG accounts that helped me if you’d find that helpful?

I breastfeed and my (by now 10-month-old) baby also takes a bottle of my milk with the Spectra bottles (which fit the Spectra pump) or the Tommee Tippee bottles he's been fine with too.
If you plan to BF and also give bottles (of EBM or formula), the recommendation is to stick with slow-flow teats 🤗

PS Do seek out all the amazing BF support there is in Leeds! Bosom Buddies groups are amazing. And Facebook group Breastfeeding and Lactation Support UK is great too. There are a lot of myths out there perpetuating fears for women that they don't have "enough milk" or feeling like because baby is fussy it means there's a problem, when in fact baby is just displaying normal behaviours to up mum's supply 🤗

All the very best of luck with it all ❤️

I like MAM as the self sterilise is super useful especially if you are planning on breast and bottle feeding

My first born was breastfed and had a bottle occasionally with no issue he had mam bottles. My second was breastfed and had bottle initially but started to refuse. We started with tommee tippee and switched to mam he took some in the mam bottles for a bit.

Mam bottles xx

We had all TT bottles but once we was here found the teat was too fast for bubba so switched to MAM, he is 6 weeks and we are still using them they are a much better flow for him

Avatar

I’ve used mam and tommee tippee bottles n honestly I don’t get what the hype is either for me they no different only thing with mam bottles is when you have made a bottle you can’t put them in water to cool as it sucks water up through the bottom which is a pain in it’s self so only time I used them was when I pre made bottles n stored in the fridge my personal opinion is mam bottles are not anything special

Avatar

We bought all TT and then was advised by all the hospital nurses that MAM were much better, so we use MAM and never had any issues at all with them 🙂 x

I got tommee tippee because the bottles fit perfectly on the breast pump so it'll make pumping and storing faster and easier.

Is this a normal thing?

I gave birth yesterday and had a second degree tear pretty much in a straight line downwards but not too close to my butt hole.
The midwife however had to put her finger up my butt twice when stitching me back together. It was traumatising on top of literally giving birth minutes beforehand 😭 Has anyone else had this happen?? She only explained the second time that she was checking she hadn't stitch into my anus which is OK but I'd rather have been told beforehand, also I don't understand why she'd need to check when she had just explained to me (and the student midwife) that the tear didn't go to the anus. Is this a normal check that they do?

I had a 2nd degree tear with my first baby but I'd had an epidural and was completely out of my face on other medications, mixed with just a terrible birth experience I didn't even take in when the doctor sewed me up, but they never mentioned abing yo put their fingers up there 😬

Baby Monitor Recommendations?

Hey Mammas!
Looking into a baby monitor that isn’t easy for someone to hack into (my sister had someone hack into the WiFi on theirs and take a screen shot of their babies sleeping 😳). I would also like to be able to see my baby from work and talk to her.
Any suggestions? TIA!

White noise for babies… I’m curious what everyone else does 🤍😴

A few questions for you all:

– Do you use white noise for naps, nighttime, or both?
– What type do you use (machine, app, YouTube, etc.)?
– Do you leave it on all night or turn it off once baby is asleep?
– What volume do you keep it at?
– Have you noticed it actually helps your baby settle?
– Do you worry about them becoming dependent on it?
– How long did you use it for?
– When (and how) did you stop using it? 👀
– Did stopping it affect your baby’s sleep at all?

Would love to hear different experiences because I’m still figuring out what works best! 🤍
