Can you have a bath after an episiotomy?

Hey guys so I had to have a Episiotomy with my son who will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and I really want to have a bath and soak my back as it's been killer since being in hospital but I don't know how long I have to wait for the stitches to be healed as they no longer hurt. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I had a bath as soon as I got home from the hospital, which was the day after I gave birth😂 i just didn’t have it too hot or put soap in there, tbh it helped so much with the pain and swelling!! But I’m not too sure whether they recommend a bath after or not😂xx

At first I only took showers because I was so scared of having a bath incase the stitches came undone etc but once I got the confidence it was the best thing ever and made my healing much better!!!

I had a bath in the hospital after my episiotomy and that was only last year, they recommended it to me :)

Okay, this gives me the confidence to have one as my midwife said not to until the stitches disolve, but I don't know how long they take.

@Louise they can take ages!! They ran me a bath and told me how to have it when I got home (not too hot ect) they said it'll help discomfort just don't soak for ages in the bath and don't put bubbles ect in it :) also if you're struggling they said peeing in the bath will help 😂

My midwife recommended I took a bath everyday. Crazy how the advice is different. She told me to put tea tree and lavender oil in the bath and I had a quick soak every evening for 2 weeks after giving birth and didn’t have any issues with my stitches.

Yeah mine said have a bath every day for about 10-15 minutes, but I was too scared, as soon as I started bathing I noticed a difference in my stitches dissolving and healing! If I hadn’t have had a bath I don’t think they would have dissolved for god knows how long! Xx

I had baths with salt in them about a week after giving birth. I had a bad 2nd degree tear and these really helped with healing and the discomfort down there x

I was told not to have a bath for 6 weeks only shower, now reading the replies wish I had a bath everyday my recovery and healing was awful

I would 100% recommend a product called Badedas, you put a few drops in your bath and it’s honestly heaven. Don’t know what magic is in it but it was the only thing that helped with the episiotomy pain after mine!

I got home a week after and had a bath, they didn’t tell me I shouldn’t. My stitches came out in the hospital as well. A shower just wasn’t good enough and as long as you ain’t in there hours on end I think it’s fine xx

I was told to bath daily straight away, so 3 weeks in you’ll def be fine!

I had a bath day after mine, all they said was not too hot, don't use any bubbles etc and don't wash with soap and don't soak for too long in it

Avatar

Said was fine to add salt to help healing

Plain bath, no bubbles etc you're fine. I was bathing 2 days after labour. It was necessary and very much enjoyed! They just told me not to soak for ages x

How many naps does your 4MO have?

Hi ladies, just wondered how many naps your bubbas are having a day?

My little girl sleeps from 7:30pm - 6:30am ish and is still having around 5 naps a day. Her WW vary from an hour up to around 1hr 30/45 mins. I keep reading everywhere about babies transitioning to 3 naps a day but I just don’t see how this is possible as my LO gets so fussy if I push her WW too long.

TIA 🙏🤞

Hardest stage yet

I love my little boy to death but my god the 4-6 month stage is killing me off!
I did struggle with the newborn stage being a new mum but wow bring back my newborn 😭

Naps no more than 40 minutes at a time,
He use to sleep through now wakes up 1/2 times a night and wants to start the day at 6am 😴
Screaming like a banshee, loves to roll about but hates the fact he can’t crawl yet and makes it known 😂
cannot be kept entertained for more than 10 minutes at a time.
Doesn’t want to be held sometimes but doesn’t want to be put down (I can’t win 😅)
If it wasn’t for his cheeky personality and the smiles/belly laughs I think I would have lost my mind at this point!

Please tell me I’m not alone 🥲

Getting out of the house

Please tell me I’m not the only one who finds it near impossible to get out of the house with my LO 😓 She’s 4.5 months and I’ve barely gone outside since giving birth. Where I live it’s still super cold and the 3 times I attempted an outdoor walk with her she started crying after 10 minutes…
She won’t nap or nurse on the go anymore and still nurses every 1.5-2 hours. Up until 4 months her cluster feeding was so frequent I couldn’t go anywhere because of that. I’m completely house bound and going crazy. I feel like every other new mom I see on my social media is out to restaurants, Pilates classes, vacations, etc with their babies and for some reason I’m the only one who can’t handle it. Tell me this gets easier 😭

Edit: *it’s not because I worry about OTHER people with my baby’s crying- her crying stresses ME out especially because I know I’m depriving her of food or sleep because I went further than 30 minutes from our house and she won’t nurse or nap until we get home. It just feels like too much hassle and stress to bother.

Help - trapped gas

My baby struggles to fart and poop. She looks so uncomfortable and tries to strain. I've tried infacol and dentanox. But no luck. I've tried massage, bicycle kicks and bathing but no luck. Only a few pumps. Anyone got any other tricks to try? Desperate tired mummy 🫩

Is 2 year olds (almost 3) too young to start learning to read letters?

Not expecting him to suddenly master it or anything but we have been doing alphabet and phonics for awhile cause he always wanted us to draw and after a point we ran out of new things so we went on to letters and numbers 😅 but he knows almost all of them so I don’t know if to see if he can string them together to read cat or something
