Has anyone had to be prescribed Aptamil Pepti 1 for their little one!?
He's 13 weeks now and currently on Sma Pro but arching his back etc when feeding and been to the doctors today and after various questions he's been prescribed this milk and need to have regular visits with the dietician as she says he has acid reflux which is why he's arching his back sometimes when feeding.
She's prescribed me a tub already and said the dietician will be in touch for an appointment but can I start this milk once I've collected it or do I need to see the dietician first?
Also were using mam bottles and he's still on size 0 teat, will I need to go to size 1 teat with it being a thicker milk?
Also any bad side effects? Constipation etc? (which I think he will get anyway as its changing his milk again?)
Lastly, she said if that doesn't work then he will need to have prescribed infant gaviscon x

Aptamil Pepti 1 isn’t thicker, it’s actually really thin and was awful for my little girl. Made her reflux worse and made her cry everytime she was sick, more so than before. She also has acid reflux. We’ve now got her on Cow & Gate Anti-Reflux formula and give her Omeprazole once a day to neutralise the acid and it’s helped so much! Took around 2 weeks to kick in. Then we give her lactulose every other day to help soften her poops due to the thicker formula. We found gaviscon wasn’t ideal as she needed the formula itself to be thicker. My little girl is 3 months 😊

okay thank you, I'll try this milk and see how my little one gets on and will keep it on a 0 teat and just ensure he's sat up right when feeding and see how he is on that for a few days

yeah always worth a shot. We thought she had CMPA due to all her symptoms and it was being mistaken as acid reflux which is why we tried this formula. But turns out it was only acid reflux and no allergies! Hope it works for your little one 🤞

also a heads up, this formula stinks! Luckily our little girl has never been fussy, but it smells of Cheddars, so can only imagine what it tastes like for them 🙈

omg lol! Can't wait for the smell 😂

My LO has been on this since 6 weeks ( now 20 weeks) made a massive difference but yea it’s slightly thinner- or more oily if I can say that- so doesn’t bubble as mush when shaken. I’d stick to the smaller teats- we only sized up to 1’s around 15 weeks and then only just on 2s now. It does absolutely stink so so do nappy’s and any gas!! Think the poo turned green for a few days but otherwise no other massive issues. We started on it straight away and then after a few weeks had a review. It does take up to 6 weeks to get all the milk out of the system in theory but we knew within a couple days that it was better and within a couple weeks she was a different baby completely.

thank you hun. I'm going to pick his prescription up shortly and then start him on that on his next feed 😊

No problem. They do say apparently you can put a drop of vanilla essence in it if your baby hates the taste but we didn’t really struggle with that. Good luck

My little one was on SMA pro (and Aptamil before that) I had terrible problems getting her to feed, she was always so windy and uncomfortable with belly ache, she wouldn’t poo for around 4days! Then her milk intake really dropped and I was lucky if I could get 3oz into her! I thought maybe it was just a faze but she didn’t improve over a month later!
I finally got my Gp to take me seriously and they referred us to a dietitian who suspected right away from her symptoms that she had a cows milk allergy and gave me Aptamil pepti syneo 1,
I started this immediately and saw no improvement at first but the dietitian told me to stick with it for 4weeks! Eventually she started improving but will still only take around 5oz per feed! She’s 5and half months but was born early with a low birth weight! I’ve had a follow up with the dietitian who has said to keep her on this milk now until she’s a year as she’s has shown signs of improvement xx

our dietitian suggest putting a couple of drops of vanilla extract into the milk to sweeten it up!
Didn’t work for my little one though but she eventually got used to the taste without the vanilla!

yeah my gp said it can take 2-4 weeks for the baby to get used to the new milk, so I'm going to stick with it for minimum 4 weeks and see how he gets on. Mine suffers with terrible wind too and currently use infacol which helps a little - but not sure if I can use infacol with his aptamil Pepti 1? As I always put it in his bottle as its the only way he would take it xxx

I've heard that too, I'll see how he gets on with it first then if need be Try that x
