Am I interacting enough with baby?

My little girl is 3 weeks old. Im EBF.
When shes awake I feed her, either have a cuddle with her or place her in her rocker with lullabies.
I read her a 1 or 2 stories a day or sing nursery rhymes.
She isn't a fan of her play matt yet for tummy tine or on her back. She'd rather be in her rocker or having cuddles. She has tummy time on mine and partners chest and she does lift her head but just doesnt like on the matt yet.

She really only cries if she wants feeding or is getting her nappy changed so its easy to sometimes leave her chilling in the moses basket or rocker in the day.
Is there anything else I could/should be doing with her?
We have a black and white contrast card book but she doesnt seem to focus on it yet. Any tips?
We are bathing about 2 times a week since her cord fell off and her skins quite dry.

Sounds like you're doing great! At this stage, you don't need to worry too much about how much you're doing with them. But you are doing plenty to stimulate her. It can take a few weeks for them to start focusing so don't worry about not focusing on the book etc, she'll get there.
With her dry skin, just make sure you dry her properly after a bath and use either some baby oil or moisturiser for babies. Don't use the Johnson's ones though as for some reason, that seems to dry their skin out more! Also some time each day (I try aim for around a total of an hour, 30 mins in morning and 30 mins in the evening) without any clothes or nappy on etc, the air to the skin helps as well x

Do I have the right to be annoyed?

Long story short.
My boyfriend got a new job last month. Working in a local bar he does usually 8 hours each shift. Usually finishes at 12am so goes back to his dads because me and our children are asleep in bed and it’s not ideal traveling up to my house so late.
When he is here, he will go to sleep between 2-4 am.
If our daughters in nursery me and her wake up for 7 am. When she’s not in nursery me and our 4 month old are up around 7:30.
He will sleep in till 12pm sometimes later and it’s starting to agitate me, I’m doing everything for our kids anyway, doing the night feeds, the wakes with our youngest teething, Changes, feeds, just looking after both our children in general. I’m doing everything. Our oldest is 3 and can be a handful along with our 4 month old being in sleep regression, teething and having separation anxiety. I can’t get a minute to myself. I’m also pregnant again so everything’s just up in the air.

When I try to bring this up to him he switches to being insulted or me having a dig at him. He says he can’t help what time he falls asleep. Don’t get me wrong there’s sometimes I can’t switch off from a hectic day and when the girls are eventually asleep, I’d stay up till 1-2 am on my phone because that is my time to wind down for the night. Yet if I went to sleep at 2 am best believe I am still up for 7 am to feed our oldest, dress her for school and see to our 4 month old. Sometimes I’m tired but I just get on with it because I’m a mother and I need to get stuff done and make sure my kids are sorted.

Yesterday annoyed me a little, he was at work till 5. Came up to see me and the girls, took the remote put what he wanted on the tv and fell asleep and went to bed. Not once did he pick up or acknowledge our youngest. He was downstairs for a whole hour then went to bed. there’s been a couple times my kids dad hasn’t seen them for a whole week because he’s working late shifts and just goes back to his dads and can’t seem to appreciate or understand how tough it can be for me on my own but I STILL get on with it.

Our youngest is waking up a couple times in the night with her teething and he had the cheek to ask me how I’m so tired I explained this has been every night for almost 2 weeks now and now I’m pregnant again I’m absolutely shattered. He just turned over and started to snore again.

If I’m honest I feel like a single mother with a partner on the side. He will only do something for our kids if I ask him to. I feel like that shouldn’t be the case. These are his children too.

If you got this far, Thankyou for reading.

Naps in the car

I'm currently sitting in the car on my drive (with the windows open) because my 6 month old fell asleep only 20 minutes ago so I'm letting her finish up the nap.

Got me thinking though - as it gets warmer, are people still leaving their babies to finish their nap if they fall asleep or are you taking them in right away as it's getting warmer (14 degrees where I am today)?

MIL kissing baby

My baby girl was born on 2/17/26, my husband and I told our immediate family no kisses at all, wash hands etc. For the first 2 times his family visited they followed the rules and to be honest I didn’t let them hold her because I had a feeling. But since they seemed to be respecting it I let them hold her on the 3rd time and everything seemed fine. The 4th visit she came up to us and straight went to kiss her head, it gave me no time to respond. I got very upset and went upstairs with her. My husband followed asking if I needed help, I told him I was very upset and just said just drop it. Fast forward a few days and she gets sick. He refuses to accept it was from her, he keeps saying it was probably him. They wanted to come over for Easter and I said no, I am still very upset. She has been the only one breaking the rule, my mom was here helping me out with baby and the house stuff for about a month and she respected it from day 1. We have gone to several doctor appt and ER visits because she was not getting better. Its been over a week now and she seems to be on the mend now. My husband always gets upset because I get upset when his family does stuff like this. Any advise?

Moving baby to own room/cot

My little one will be 5 months soon, and I am thinking of moving her to her own room and cot. She has outgrown her next to me and there is no space in my room to put a bigger cot in for her and I really struggle to co-sleep with her. Has anyone got any experience of moving baby to their own space earlier than they’re supposed to?

*I am fully aware they are supposed to stay in the room with you until 6 months, so please no comments regarding this, I just want to hear if other people have moved baby early and successfully and how*
