Hello, new to this group and I’m just wondering if anyone has any advice on movements with anterior placenta?
I had my 20 week scan yesterday and they confirmed I have an anterior placenta, the midwife told me to not be too concerned about anything until 24 weeks but I just wondered if anyone has any tips on getting baby to move. Or how it feels when baby moves with an anterior placenta?
I know they’re completely normal but you just hear so many horrors about movement!

I had an anterior and I was in the hospital loads of times with reduced movements thankfully everything was okay each time I just couldn't feel her move. But I also did feel a lot as well all depending what position she was in I think I felt her properly and other people were able to feel her around 24/25 weeks..
There is no 'pattern' of movements for any baby before 24 weeks anyway so try not to worry too much, if you are ever concerned always ring triage or your midwife x

thank you!
Like I know he’s fine I saw him yesterday and saw his heart beating etc but I just like to know what’s happening!
Very much a control freak and I’ve honestly found it so hard not being in control haha.
Does it feel more like flutters to start off with? I have a few things that I’ve believed are movements and my midwife has said yeah sounds like movements I’ve not had anything for a few days

I had an anterior placenta and baby seemed to be a roller rather than a kicker. FTM also so not sure if that was because the kicks were muffled by the placenta or she just preferred to roll around rather than kick. I honestly found it very difficult to notice a pattern with her and counting the kicks was nigh on impossible. In the end, there were different prompts that I used to get her to move, e.g. she always moved when the tv was on or at 8pm, she was usually very active so I went by those.

I had an anterior placenta, only one pregnancy so I can’t compare it to a posterior placenta but I still felt LOADS of movement and kicks so strong they hurt!

So my first pregnancy my placenta was on left lateral. I felt movements all the time especially when I would lay down or drink chocolate milk. This pregnancy I have an anterior they noticed it at 13 weeks and told me it’s possible to shift. My OB asked about movement and I brought up the placenta but if she was moving and I breathed slow enough I could just barely feel her move. With my first I felt movement when I was about 16 weeks. Constant crazy flutters and kicks around 20 weeks. I hardly feel any fluttering and that’s completely normal. At 20 weeks they said I should feel more movement but they baby is still small enough I may not feel any movements until 24 weeks because baby has to kick through the placenta. It’s like a cushion between your belly and baby!

thank you! Probably the most reassuring, the sonographer did say baby had moved from my 12 week scan to my 20 week scan. My midwife basically said that babies probably now firmly behind the placenta whereas before babies arms or legs might have been below it and thats why I was able to feel them.
I do think I felt baby last night, almost felt as though he was rubbing his body against mine if that makes sense?

Currently 21 weeks and have found out that I have anterior placenta at my 20 week scan, however since yesterday I have felt some soft but distictive kicks in my lower belly the last couple of days but haven't ever felt flutters or bubbles like people have said what first movements feel like.

I was exactly the same, luckily I had to have growth scans as well so I could see her more often, I can't really remember feels so long ago 🙈 but like little butterflies but I barley felt the early movements because of the placenta it was more of a kick I felt first

yep! My 5 1/2 month old was cuddling with me the other day and my little one was all cuddled up on my stomach, I could of swore from the way I felt immediately more pregnant than before that her sister moved to be touching her! There are movements you will feel and that’s great! Some days you may not feel many and it’s because baby is trying to push through the placenta. The placenta and baby can also move as well so it could move more upwards or downwards and you will feel baby more some days then others. At 20 weeks they will recheck my placenta placement but this is also my second pregnancy so I know what those movements can feel like a little better then I could with my first. If I roll funny or move to fast I can feel baby so a little freak out move to get back to her comfy spot lol

I have an anterior placenta. I didn't feel movement till around 24 weeks or so I'd say - even then it was like small bubbles or popping in my belly. I went in at 28 weeks with reduced movements, baby was fine she was just chilling behind the placenta so I couldn't feel her. I'm currently 36 weeks and feel movements everyday now and can see my belly move and everything. So I'd say not to worry too much x

I didn’t feel her until around 24 to 25 weeks and now she’s very active at 34 weeks. Just be patient and you’ll be fine. Everyone is different and when you do feel her it will be wonderful. For myself it feels like both gas popping and rolling movement. I was nervous as well until I was told I had an anterior placenta and was explained that the movements would be delayed. She was so active during ultrasounds that I didn’t worry.

I had an anterior placenta and I was in the hospital being checked quite abit cause I couldn’t feel much movement but at times I could feel baby loads more so under my ribs and across there. I don’t think I was about 27 weeks before I started to feel baby properly x

I had anterior placenta and barely felt her 🥹 but i was no worried cause the doctor said it was totally normal not to feel the normal kicks! Remember that the anterior placenta will work as a “barrier” so if baby kicks they’ll kick first the placenta (that is actually thick) then it will transmit it to the uterus, organs, fat, skn lol 🙈 so when you dont have anterior placenta the kick wont have that “barrier” idk if I explained myself lol 🙈
You might just feel like butterflies or like gassy 🥲 and by the end of the 3rd trimester you might feel her a little bit more!

i have an anterior placenta and i was so worried i couldn’t feel anything. i’m 21 weeks and the baby just pokes that’s the best way to describe it is little pokes here and there 🥰

the best thing i did was rub my belly or have my boyfriend rub my belly and i had my mother talk to the baby i don’t know for sure if it helped but i can feel the baby now

I didn’t have one the first time, have one this second pregnancy and I’m still feeling a lot of movement. Especially the further you get, you feel it from all directions.
