iCandy Peach or Silver Cross Reef Prams

Thoughts on either / both? I’ve got it down to these two but can’t decide!

Also 360 car seat or one that just goes in and out?!

Its more of a preference, Icandy peach 7 comes in with many benefits from single to double pushchair, 5 yrs warranty, Reef its also nice, but it can be used just as a single pram, both of the pushchairs are compatible with different carseat brands.

I have just bought my icandy peach pram and it is one of the easiest prams to work seen in-store and the car seat literally just clips on and off and is soo easy and has extensions so the baby is closer to you. The chassi literally folds up and has a strap u can carry over your shoulder was defo one of the best prams I seen. Also showed me what it looked like with car seats on and has lots of comparable car seats as icandy don’t actually sell car seats xxx

Have a look on Facebook Marketplace before you buy a new one xx
I bought one for really cheap for my twins coming in October and it’s clean and in good condition.
It is a ICandy double pushchair xx

I liked the Icandy but couldn’t get over the price tag, tried the reef in a local store and absolutely loved it and it’s super easy to fold/unfold unlike others we demo’d. We managed to get it in the John Lewis sale with around £500 off so was a winner for us! Xx

this is why we are looking are now because of the John Lewis sale! Financially it’s worth getting now if we want the silver Cross Just can’t decide between the 2!

We going for the Cybex Priam, I believe the car seat (in particular) is better rated 👍🏼

I think you’ll just have to try both tbf and see what you prefer 😁 I likes the reef because it felt sturdy and smooth the push around but I liked the extra detailing on the silvercross over the icandy. Icandys are super modern looking whereas silvercross is a bit more classic x

Recommend joining a car safety group on Facebook before you purchase your car seat. You’ll probably need an infant carrier as the 360 don’t fit well for newborns

Avatar

thanks this is good to know. We went to John Lewis and they said the maxi cosi 360 pebble car seat was ok from birth but now you’ve said this I will definitely check. Thanks for this, very helpful x

Avatar

no worries, I didn’t check with my first born as I didn’t know about the groups but it’s definitely worth a check ☺️ x

We went for a cybex balios lux! We choose this one purely for the fact it suited our lifestyle. Such as the wheels are big and good for walks. They turn inward and outward etc.... ild choose a buggy around what will suit your lifestyle. Like do you need it to get in a smaller car or lightweight etc xx

Avatar

@Nicola yes that's correct. Most highly scored on the German car safety board that rate car seats. Highest score a car seat can get is 1.5 and cybex gets 1.7!

Avatar

Trying both out and see which ticks your boxes more. Icandy can change into tandem and silvercross can’t.

Avatar

Which one did you end up going for in the end? We are deciding between the exact same two prams ourselves too! x

we ended up getting the Icandy 7 peach. For me, it just felt lighter to push but I still love the look of the silver cross!

Childminder or nursery

I’ve noticed that most people in the UK talk about nurseries and how expensive they are, but hardly anyone mentions childminders. From what I understand, childminders are often more affordable, more flexible (for example, if you need to pick up your child a bit later), and they provide a more home-like environment.

They also usually involve a single main caregiver, which I feel can be really positive for attachment, especially for younger children.

So why don’t more people use childminders? Is there any stigma around them in the UK?

I’m asking because my baby goes to a childminder and I’m starting to worry—are they seen as a worse option? Personally, I see some downsides to nurseries too: they tend to be more expensive, and because there are many more children (often of different ages) in the same space, I feel like that can lead to a higher risk of illnesses spreading.

So I’m curious why nurseries seem to be the more popular choice.

Childcare for toddler during labour

For those of you who don't have any family or friends nearby enough to jump in to look after your older child, how did you manage labour and going to hospital to give birth? I'm only 5 weeks pregnant but already stressing about it!

9 month free childcare hours

What an absolute joke the government funded hours are! My baby was born on the 10th July and is 9 months on the 10th April, which falls in the Easter holidays. But she isn’t entitled to any free hours until September when she will be over a year old??? She would have received them in April if she was born 10 days earlier?? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Partner contribution

Feeling very frustrated with my partner at the moment but not sure if I’m being selfish. He has gone back to work but is fully remote so works from home everyday. He sleeps in the spare room and has done since the moment we brought baby home (he is now 8 weeks old). He takes the baby one night over the weekend and I go into the spare room for one undisturbed nights sleep. I get that he is working, so wouldn’t be doing any weekday night feeds, but even after work he doesn’t help very much. I ask him to help me and he’s fine when the baby isn’t fussing but as soon as he starts crying he hands him back to me stating he “cannot do this”. I feel like I get no break. He watches me run up and down the stairs, making bottles tidying the house and does nothing to help, not even a thank you. I feel like I want to go back to work sooner rather than later to even the playing field as he said that when I start working it would be 50/50. Just wondering how everyone else is doing things with a working partner?

Sausages

Has anyone given their little one sausages yet? Mines 9 month old and I want to try him with them but they are not recommended as high in salt. Has anyone found a good brand?

Solids/food

Guys, where are we all standing on starting to introduce foods? My little one is nearly 5months and is really interested in food. My sister gave her a taste of a quaver on the weekend and I've never seen her so eager and happy. I dont know what to do
