they will take off any money like an earning if you get maternity pay and top it up that way if you go on gov.uk you can search it xx

Hi Lauren I had to ask about this on my journal as I was unsure . I get a very small amount of UC on top of my crappy monthly wage 🤣 so I wasn't sure if anything changed when I get mat pay. It's exactly like an earning so they deduct a certain amount per £1 then tally up what you are entitled too after that if that makes sense. . I'll share the reply I had I hope it helps xx

In regard to Maternity Pay, this is deductible from Universal Credit.

Paid by Employer - This will be deducted in the usual way (55p per £1).

Pay by Maternity Allowance - This will be deducted pound for pound.

Once your child is born, you will need to report a change of circumstance > children and other people who live with you as soon as possible to give us more time to get this change verified.

You do not need to wait for a Birth Certificate as we can use other documents from the hospital to verify birth.

hey Helen..I’ve heard of a journal but what is it? I’m currently not on UC but planning on applying for it so when will I need to do that by

hi honey. Sorry I mis read and thought you already received it:) definitely apply now as I know they do have a back log at the moment (I work alongside dwp with the project that I'm on) so when you apply they usually call you in, or do it over the phone (however it's mostly face to face now) once you have turned up for that they give you a log in for the universal credit site which has your personal details and a journal page which is where you can add notes for your work coach/any updates or changes ask any questions etc. There is also a payments page which will tell you how much you will get for that month and when. As well as other information . But you won't get access until you have applied and been to the job centre for your gist appointment. I hope this helps lovely. Feel free to message if you want any help :) xxx

You can't drive and live rurally. At what point in pregnancy would you not want hubby going away overnight?

My husband has to do overnights with work sometimes to London which is like an 7 hour train journey from our home. At what point of pregnancy would you start to feel uncomfortable with him going away/request he decline the trip? I can't drive and live 50 minutes away from the nearest hospital.

Serious Advice - Debt related

Hi all,

I haven’t really got anyone to discuss with so I wanted some advice.

I’m going to be starting a debt management plan with Stepchange as since having the baby I’ve been unable to earn enough money to make a difference in my credit cards - I’m essentially paying nothing with the interest being added etc.

Anyway, with the proposed solution, after paying ALL my necessities, and the debt plan back I’ll be left with £170 disposable.

Does that sound reasonable? Or should I lower my debt plan, to have more money to put away now, and then increase the amount in a couple years? My car finance is due to end in 3 years, so I’ll be able to basically move that money over to the debt solution and clear it quicker.

What do people think the best solution would be to do?

Increase my disposable ££ and lower my debt solution, or £170 be okay? (It may be more if I don’t spend as much as anticipated during the month)
